Chelsea Sack German Coach Tuchel

Chelsea have sacked their German manager Thomas Tuchel following their defeat to Dinamo Zagreb on match day one of the Champions League.

The London confirmed Tuchel’s sack on Wednesday after releasing a statement on their website.

“Chelsea Football Club has today parted company with Head Coach Thomas Tuchel,” the statement read.

“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club. Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea’s history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here.

“As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.

“Chelsea’s coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches as the Club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach.

“There will be no further comment until a new head coach appointment is made.

The Blues have struggled for form in the current campaign despite making a number of signings.

The duo of Denis Zakaria and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were signed on transfer deadline day while Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly joined earlier.

Tuesday’s loss to Dinamo Zagreb means Chelsea have failed to keep a clean sheet in their past six games, since opening the Premier League campaign with a 1-0 victory at Everton.

    This is SHOCKING honestly….

    • That’s the job of a modern day coach. You are as good as your last game. Good luck to him

  • This is business, strictly no sentiments. When you invest 270 million pounds, the results must be immediate not later.

  • He supposed to be given like 3 matches ultimatum, this guy is good, I put the blame on the players.
    Anyway, Goodluck to him

    • @ Ola, Hw had more than three matches with EPL inclusive and with the amount spent on players, there is possibility he will be let go. Yes players have to share part of the blame and take responsibility for the gamea3so far, but someone have to be sacrificed to let go and thats the manager.

    Men, they sacked this guy.
    Wooow.
Football na business sha. No time for sentiments. If the results are not favorable, sack loading.
And it’s not just the coach. The administrators are also on the firing line.
The current NFF leadership are on their way out because of poor decision making that led to the loss of a world cup ticket. If Nigeria had qualified for the mundial, the push to get them out of office would not have been as strong as it is currently.
