UPDATE: Man City Beat Spurs To Claim Record-Equaling League Cup Wins

Manchester City have emerged champions of this season’s Carabao Cup after pipping Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in Sunday’s final inside Wembley stadium.

It is now a joint-record eighth time win in the League Cup for Man City as they have equalled Liverpool.

Also, they are the second team to win the competition in four consecutive campaigns (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021) after Liverpool achieved the feat in 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984.

The hero for Man City was French defender Aymeric Laporte whose header off Kevin De Bruyne’s free-kick on 82 minutes, extended Spurs’ wait for a first trophy since 2008.

City, who were appearing in their sixth final in eight years, dominated proceedings at Wembley in front of 8,000 returning fans.

They dominated proceedings, making 17 goal attempts to Spurs’ two. However, their finishing lacked throughout as Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris made some superb saves to keep his side in the tie.
But despite Spurs getting hope of snatching a triumph late on, there was nothing Lloris could do to stop Laporte’s powering header.

City are still in the hunt for two more trophies as they are 10 points ahead of Manchester United in the Premier League table and will face PSG in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
