Brentford defender Michael Kayode has disclosed that the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, approached him over a possible switch of international allegiance.
Born in Borgomanero, Italy, to Nigerian parents, Kayode is eligible to represent both countries at senior level.
The 22-year-old has represented Italy extensively at youth level and recently received his first senior call-up to the Azzurri squad.

Kayode played a key role in Italy’s 2023 UEFA European Under-19 Championship triumph, scoring the winning goal in the final against Portugal.
Kayode Committed To Italy
Despite the approach from the NFF, the right-back said he never considered switching allegiance, citing his long association with the Italian national teams.
“It was a very easy decision. I went through all the youth teams here. Nigeria approached me, but I never thought about changing national teams,” he was quoted by Football Italia as saying.
“I think Italy have always been a great national team, and playing here is an honour.”

His likes are many, csn of what benefit is this news to anyone here. Even nff must have moved on, can we have news on dangote IPO then if there nothing to report again other than this one.
With the emergence of Ola Aina, Fredricks and Bewene I don’t understand why the need to be begging Kayode. Will he come and score Hattrick from RB or what? Let us focus on areas such has midfield and left back where Bruno need serious competition because since the converting of Bassey to CB that position is not doing greatly.
Leave Michael Kayode alone, NFF. We have better defenders, especially in the Right-back position where he plays for Brentford, in the Super Eagles squad.
The only good thing I see in him is his Long throw ins inside opposition half unto the Box. He is not a good runner with the ball nor great duels winner. The SE have too many decent right backs, and many more eligible Nigerians plying their trade in Europe and across the globe that are yet to be called up!
