Britos Praises Fellow Defenders

Watford defender Miguel Britos says his lack of game time can be explained by the form of his defensive colleagues. The Uruguayan has been used sparingly by Javi Gracia this season following a succession of injuries and good form from his teammates – only making two appearances in the Premier League.

The Hornets lie in eighth in the top flight, as they try and secure an unlikely European place with only seven matches remaining. Gracia has tended to make as few changes as possible during the season and the continuity has led to their best-ever Premier League campaign.

And Britos admits his team mates have done enough to warrant their positions but must not get complacent ahead of the run in. “We have five central defenders and there was Ben Wilmot as well before he left on loan,” he told the club website. “Kaba started the season very well and then the gaffer started Mariappa and he did very well too. I think Craig is also having an amazing season.

“It’s good for everyone to have a lot of players in your position because you cannot relax. You have to push and train hard to get the chance. “Obviously I was disappointed because every player wants to play. I wanted to show who I am as a player and I didn’t have too many chances to show that I deserve a place, but it’s okay.”
