Bull Backs Jimenez For Wolves Record

Club legend Steve Bull believes Raul Jimenez has the quality to become Wolves’ all-time leading Premier League scorer by Christmas. Bull knows a thing or two about netting for the Molineux-outfit, with him the club’s leader scoring with 306 goals.

However, the former England man’s commitment to the club meant he never got the chance to play in the Premier League.

Therefore he missed out on top-flight action and it is Steven Fletcher who holds Wolves’ Premier League benchmark.
The Scot’s 22 strikes in gold and black looks to be under threat, with Jimenez moving onto 15 after netting against Burnley and Everton.

After an encouraging maiden campaign in England, the Mexican saw his loan from Benfica made permanent in April, with the 38million euros deal going through on July 1.

He has hit the ground running and already has eight goals to his name having also bagged six times in the Europa League, including in the crucial 2-1 win over Torino.

Two of his league goals last term came against Chelsea and they are the next opponents for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men on Saturday when the Premier League returns following the international break.

Jimenez has started all four of his side’s league games this season and was partnered with summer arrival Patrick Cutrone in the 3-2 defeat at Everton on September 1, with Diogo Jota rested.

Cutrone’s arrival gives Nuno plenty of options but Jimenez’s ability to hold up the ball and link up the play from behind makes him stand out from the other two front-line strikers.

Bull is more concerned by his goal-scoring exploits, describing him as a “proper striker”.
The club icon is so in awe of the 28-year-old that he believes he will have no issues surpassing Fletcher’s record by Christmas.

“He’s a proper striker, an out and out goalscorer, so I reckon he’ll get there by Christmas, definitely,” he is quoted as saying by the Shropshire Star. “With how he’s going, we could be talking about him breaking the record in a matter of weeks.”
