Burnley Hold Chelsea At Stamford Bridge

Chelsea missed a chance to go third in the English Premier League on Monday after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Burnley at Stamford Bridge reports Completesports.com.

Chelsea were behind after eight minutes to Jeff Hendrick’s volley and then replied with goals from N’Golo Kante and Gonzalo Higauin in the eight and 12 minute respectively.
Ashley Barnes equalised for Burnley in the 24th minute and Chelsea could not force a winning goal despite dominating possession and play throughout the second half.
Chelsea then suffered a double blow as first Hudson-Odoi and then Kante, with a rib injury, limped off.

Pedro came off the bench for Odoi, and his low pass was almost swept into the net by Higuain, but Heaton got down smartly.

Then Emerson let fly from 30 yards with a shot which flashed just past the post.

They were, though, still dangerous on the break – and from every set-piece. Heaton was also standing firm at the other end, beating out Azpilicueta’s fierce drive.

Sarri threw on his European hero Oliver Giroud with 15 minutes left as he desperately sought the breakthrough.

It was back to the wall stuff from Burnley, but as Hazard’s cross shot flew just over, they held on – as Sarri was sent to the stands by referee Kevin Friend, and at the whistle, coaching staff from both benches clashed in a furious melee.

It was a major chance missed by Sarri’s men, who still move up into fourth spot.
