Barcelona captain, Sergio Busquets and defender Jordi Alba are jubilating after the Blaugrana (Blue and Red) defeated Espanyol 4-2 on Sunday, May 14 at the Cornella-El Prat to win their 27th Laliga title.
Robert Lewandowski scored a brace while Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde scored the other goals for Barcelona.
Javi Puado and Joselu were on the score sheet for Espanyol during the encounter.
Busquets told FC Barcelona.com he is glad to win the title after a recent trophy drought.
“This should be the basis for a winning team; we have come from three seasons winning hardly anything,” Busquets said
“I wanted to leave with trophies. We won the Super Cup but winning an important title like the league, it’s an objective that we had.”
Alba congratulated Barcelona veterans and newbies on the Laliga win.
“We are really happy for those who have been in the club for a long time and those who have not won the league.”
Busquets has made four assists in 28 league games this season while Alba has scored twice and provided three assists in 22 Laliga games this term.
Barcelona clinched the Laliga title after obtaining 85 points from 34 matches.
They will next face Real Sociedad on Saturday, May 20 at the Camp Nou.
