CAFCC: Enyimba, Rangers Know Round Of 32 Opponents Today As CAF Holds Draw In Cairo

Enyimba of Aba and Enugu Rangers, the two Nigerian clubs still remaining in the 2019/2020 CAF inter club competitions, will today know their opponents in the last round of play off matches of the Confederation Cup, completesports.com reports.

CAF will conduct the draws in Cairo, Egypt, with 32 clubs involved.

And the sixteen teams that will emerge after the two legged games will proceed to the money spinning group stage in the expanded 16 team group phase involving four teams in four groups.

CAF will also conduct draws for the CAF Champions League group phase involving 16 teams including holders, Esperance of Tunisia.

“We’ve put behind our (CAF) champions league misfortune behind. We hope to make up with the confederation cup”, Enyimba coach, Usman Abd’Allah said when completesports.com sampled his views on the draws.

“It is not in our hands to decide which teams we would like to meet. Any team that the draw pairs us with is okay and we will give the game our best to reach the group stage”.

The final of this year’s CAF inter club competitions, CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will be decided on a neutral ground over a single game.

This is the immediate response of CAF in the aftermath of the ugly incident that overshadowed the 2019 champions league final return leg match in Rades Stadium, Tunis, on May 31 between Esperance and Wydac Cassablanca of Morocco.

The match was abandoned by the Moroccan side over a disallowed goal with Video Assistant Referee, VAR, not functioning.

CAF is considering Cameroon as venue for the inaugural neutral venue final.

Cameroon will host the 2020 CHAN and as well stage the 2021 AFCON.
