Rivers United have continued to bolster their squad with quality, and experienced players ahead the 2026/2027 CAF Champions League campaign.
Former Enyimba Captain, Ekene Awazie, and ex- Abia Warriors and Super Eagles invitee, Imo Obot, are the latest top Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, players who have joined Finidi George’s side.
Awazie is a former Enyimba winger, while Obot is a reputed dead ball specialists.
Similarly, Salman Abubakar, a defensive Midfielder who plied his trade with the Peoples Elephant last term, has completed his move to the Pride of Rivers.

Innocent Gabriel, a defender who was on the payroll of Abia Warriors last season, Kano Pillars defence ace, Muktar Mohammed, Plateau United’s Midfielder, Chinechem Ugueze, relegated Bayelsa United’s left-back Ubong Williams and midfielder Alex Oyowah who is rejoining the Port Harcourt club after two season with Remo Stars are amongst the new arrivals.
The new arrivals have started training with the 2025/2026 NPFL runners-up inside the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Omagwa, near Port Harcourt.
Officials of the club said the club will soon come up with a statement on the new players they have recruited.
“An official statement will be made soon”, the club’s head of media, Charles Mayuku, responded when Completesports called him up.
