Can Iheanacho Compound Liverpool’s Title Hopes?

Super Eagles star, Kelechi Iheanacho’s goal against Brighton in the FA Cup may just have served as a dress-rehearsal for Leicester City as they prepare to host Liverpool at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

The Nigerian international watched from the bench as Jamie Vardy led the Foxes attack after been absent for few games due to injury. But Vardy’s inability to make the big impact prompted manager, Brendan Rodgers to summon Iheanacho into the thick of the action and he perfectly won the game with his header in the final minutes of the game.

So far this campaign, the former youth international has scored five times and assisted four other goals in 22 games in all competitions for Brendan Rodgers’ side, while they are also contending for the Premier League title.

He netted his first Premier League goal in seven months as Leicester City secured a 2-0 away win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

However, the team’s quest for a Champions League spot next season will come under scrutiny against a Liverpool side that appears to be wounded and low in confidence after losing 4-1 to Manchester City at Anfield last weekend.

As expected, Iheanacho may not be listed in the starting XI but once he’s called upon to shoulder the goal-scoring responsibility, he hardly disappoints.

The Leicester vs Liverpool showdown could just be the turning point for the former Man City star in reviving his career this season.
