Italy’s 2006 World Cup winning captain Fabio Cannavaro, has been officially appointed as the new head coach of Simy Nwankwo’s Serie B side Benevento after signing a two-year deal.
Cannavaro, who is taking on his first coaching role in Italian football, was announced as Benevento’s new coach on the club’s Twitter handle on Wednesday.
The former Juventus and Real Madrid defender already has years of experience in the dugout, spending time in the Chinese Super League with Guangzhou Evergrande and Tianjin Quanjian.

During his time in China Cannavaro, who replaces Fabio Caserta, won a league title and Chinese cup.
Benevento currently sit 13th in the league table with seven points.
