Taiwo Awoniyi opened his goals account for Coventry as he scored and also bagged an assist in their 4-2 win away to League One (third division) side Plymouth in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
It was Awoniyi’s second appearance for Coventry after making his debut in the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates last week Friday.
His Nigeria teammate Frank Onyeka was not in action for Frank Lampard side as he was not included in the matchday squad.
Awoniyi broke the deadlock just three minutes into the contest as he finished off an assist by Ghana international Caleb Yirenkyi.
In the fifth minute Awoniyi then turned provider, setting up Jack Rudoni who made it 2-0.

In the 21st minute Oliver Irow reduced the deficit before Xavier Amaechi leveled the score at 2-2.
On 67 minutes Ephron Mason-Clark restored Coventry’s lead to make it 3-2 before Peter Torp added the fourth goal for Coventry from the penalty spot with 12 minutes left to play.
After four seasons at Nottingham Forest, Awoniyi signed for newly Premier League club Coventry City for a reported fee of £9 million.
