Carabao Cup: Ten Hag Delighted With Man United Win Over Crystal Palace

Manchester United coach Erik Ten Hag says that his team was dominant in the Carabao Cup Third Round game against Crystal Palace on Tuesday, September 26 at Old Trafford.

Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho scored the opening goal of the encounter in the 21st minute and Brazilian midfield stalwart Casemiro added the second six minutes later.

The first half ended 2-0 in favour of the Red Devils.

Frenchman Anthony Martial made it 3-0 in the 55th minute of the second half with a close range angled finish.

Casemiro is Manchester United’s highest goalscorer this season with four goals and one assist in eight appearances.

In an interview with MUTV after the game Ten Hag said the club is moving forward.

“We are moving forward,” Ten Hag said.

“Oh, it’s a good night. And I think we played quite well and dominated the game. So that was what we were looking for.

But I also said disappointment and frustration (from the losses). But the mood is then dropping. The spirit was always good, togetherness was always there and is there and you could see that today.

“And we make a step forward in Burnley, how we defend, how we do that and togetherness today on the ball and we make another step. So still a lot to come, but we are making (progress) and we are moving forward.”

Manchester United are the defending champions of the Carabao Cup after winning the 2022/23 edition.

They have won the competition six times (1991/92, 2005/06, 2008/09, 2009/10, 2016/17 and 2022/23).

The Red Devils are ninth position on the Premier League table with a total of nine points from six matches in the division.

Crystal Palace have never won the Carabao Cup.

Palace are 10th in the Premier League standings with eight points after six matches.

United and Crystal Palace will meet again in a Premier League clash on Saturday, September 30 at the Old Trafford Stadium.
