Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has downplayed Mason Mount injury concerns after substituting the midfielder 18 minutes into a 1-1 preseason friendly against Paris Saint-Germain, stating it was merely a precautionary measure after a kick to the foot.
Mount, who joined United from Chelsea in 2023, has been hampered by injury problems since arriving at Old Trafford and he lasted less than 20 minutes after starting against PSG.

The 27-year-old appeared to suffer a foot injury in Sweden and, following discussions with coaches on the touchline, left the field to be replaced by Tyler Fletcher.
In a chat with the club’s website, Carrick confirmed Mount’s withdrawal was a precaution.
“I’ve played with him. I played in the game he made his debut, so we have a history,” the United head coach said.
“We have a full squad next week in Dublin. We fly straight there and meet Leeds on Wednesday. We have a few days in Dublin where we have the whole squad, including Marcus, Kobbie and Lisandro.”

Of the three seasons he has been at United, he made the most top-flight appearances last term with 23, averaging just 44 minutes per game.
United, who qualified for the Champions League with their third-place finish last term, kick off their campaign away at newly-promoted Hull. They then host Ipswich and travel to Everton before Old Trafford stages the Manchester derby on September 13.
