Celta Vigo are the latest club credited with an interest in Pedro Obiang, with Italian outfit Sassuolo thought to be heading the race for his signature. The 27-year-old has spent four years with the Hammers and is under contact until the summer of 2022 after penning new terms a couple of years ago, but he has been strongly linked with an exit this off-season.
It was reported that Serie A club Sassuolo were on the verge of landing the Equatorial Guinea schemer and may well have wrapped up the transfer over the weekend. However, Obiang remains a West Ham player for now and Celestes are said to have shown an interest, although the Spaniards will reportedly have to sell before they can buy and that might hamper any potential deal.
Another negative for Celta may be the way they dealt with the Maxi Gomez situation, with West Ham seemingly given the run-around over the Uruguay striker before he joined Valencia. However, money talks in football and an offer in line with the London club’s valuation would sweeten the siltation.
