Championship: Etebo, Ajayi Clash As Stoke City Welcome Relegation-Haunted Rotherham

Super Eagles stars, Semi Ajayi will come up against Oghenekaro Etebo in the Sky Bet Championship league on Saturday when their respective clubs – Rotherham United and Stoke City clash at Bet365 Stadium, Completesports.com reports.

Ajayi who is still basking from winning the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for March after scoring five goals in five league games will be aiming to make his 42nd appearance for the Millers as they look to avoid the drop at the end of the season.

Rotherham United currently 22nd with 39 points from 41 games in the Sky Bet Championship league table have won two of their last five games, losing three.

Etebo on his part will be targetting his third goal for Stoke City on his 30th league appearance for the club since he joined as a loanee from Premier League club, Evertonu

The 23-year-old midfielder is Stoke City’s joint sixth highest scorer this season.

Stoke currently 15th in the league 12 points ahead of Rotherham United have drawn three, won one and lost one in their last five games.

The game will be the 40th meeting between the two sides. Their first encounter ended 4-1 for Stoke on the Christmas Day of 1926.

The Millers have won 13 times while Stoke prevailed 16 times, with 10 draws.

Stoke City haven’t beaten Rotherham in the league since 2003, with the Millers winning the last league match at the Bet365 Stadium, a 2-1 victory in April 2005.

The last time these teams met was in September 2018 which ended 2-2 at the AESSEAL New York Stadium. A Ryan Manning penalty and a goal from Richie Towell gave the Millers a 2-0 lead before goals from Tom Ince and Bojan helped Stoke to rescue a point.
