Chelsea Linked With Brazilian Ace

Chelsea are said to be monitoring the situation in Barcelona with regards to a move for attacker Philippe Coutinho.

It is looking increasingly likely that Chelsea will lose Eden Hazard in the summer as Real Madrid are set to take him and a move for Coutinho would offset that loss.

The Catalan giants are ready to cut their losses on the Brazilian apparently if they can persuade someone to come up with an offer of around the £90m mark.

The former Liverpool man has been in and out of the side at the Nou Camp and has not been able to nail down a regular place in Ernesto Valverde’s side.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a return to Liverpool – although that looks unlikely – but he could still be on his way, with a Barca club insider telling ESPN that he would be available if someone offered the right money.

“Barcelona do not have a firm offer from any club at this point, but some have expressed an interest in the player,” a source at the club told ESPN FC. “Key people, who are either directly or indirectly linked with various clubs, have been following the situation closely.” Chelsea are currently under a transfer ban but are going to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to get it overturned and hope to be able to trade before a final decision is made.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid were all allowed to sign players while they waited for the final verdict on their recent bans, so Chelsea expect to be treated the same.
