Cherries Test First Up For Blades

Sheffield United have been handed a trip to the south coast to take on Bournemouth in their first Premier League fixture for 12 years. The 2019/20 Premier League fixtures have now been released and the computer has been kind to the Blades, easing them in against sides not in the top six.

A trip to the Vitality Stadium on August 10 is followed by a couple of home games, with Crystal Palace arriving at Bramall Lane seven days later before Brendan Rodgers brings Leicester City on August 24. The first huge test will come on the final day of August when the South Yorkshire outfit travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea, while they will have to wait until December 28 to take on champions Manchester City.

Manager Chris Wilder is currently busy in the transfer market trying to bring in players capable of keeping the club in the top flight, with United one of the favourites to go straight down. The 51-year-old tactician is highly regarded in the football world but will be taking his first steps in Premier League management. A solid start is essential and the gods have shone on the Blades, with ‘winnable’ fixtures early on.
