Christantus Uche is expected to miss the entire 2026/27 season after suffering a serious knee injury, Completesports.com reports.
Uche sustained the injury during Getafe’s pre-season friendly against French Ligue 1 club AS Monaco.
Getafe released a statement on their official website after the game providing an initial update on the Nigeria international’s condition.
“Following initial tests and clinical examination by the club’s medical staff, Christantus Uche was found to have a contusion on the kneecap of his right leg, caused by the blow suffered during the match against AS Monaco,” the club said.
“The footballer is awaiting further tests to assess the full extent of the injury. Clinical evolution will determine its availability.”
However, according to Spanish publication Diario AS, subsequent scans revealed several tears in Uche’s right knee, with both the ligaments and menisci severely affected.
The 23-year-old is now expected to undergo surgery, which would rule him out of action for the entire 2026/27 campaign.
Uche spent last season on loan at Premier League club Crystal Palace.
