For those clamouring for RAMON AZEEZ inclusion into the Eagles fold cuz he now plays in LaLiga again, I took out time to watch him today. So glad the coach gave him approximately 25mins to prove his worth and he wasn’t amazing all through.

He played as a defensive Midfielder when he came on and was responsible for his team’s 4th goal conceded Which was scored by our very own SAMUEL Chukwueze as well. His position sense in the middle was not accurate enough and when he received a pass from his teammate, Chukwueze rushed him and he loss the ball to Santi Carzola. Carzola then teed the ball a little for Chukwueze to go on with a blistering pace and a calm finish. Defensively, he wasn’t up there but I think his ball distribution is Good.

So for me, he needs to prove he’s really as good as he’s been portrayed by some Forumites before we can ask for a call-up but certainly not now. The guy hasn’t gotten his Mojo well. A little more time at least

  • Best young player keep it up

  • Chukwueze outshines Azeez

You could not have written the script: just minutes from making his La Liga debut, 2014 Super Eagles World Cup midfield Anchor Azeez looses possession deep only to allow Chukwueze race in for his season’s curtain raiser.

Horror start to life in La liga for Azeez ; dream start to the season for Chukwueze.

Having said that, there is an argument to be made that Azeez’s team mate should have picked another player for the pass as Nigerian was already tightly marked and not in the best position to receive such a delicate pass in such a delicate area.

A lesson for his team mate to take away.

However Chukwueze still had a lot to do; receiving the pass, racing through, picking his spot and burying the chance with a sublime finesse shot just outside the 18 yard box with his left foot to underscore the quality player that he is fast becoming.

To Azeez’s credit, he was able to put that disappointment behind him to remain solid in midfield with some simple yet effective passes, decent interceptions and overall positional play that suggest that the best of him is yet to come.

It finished Villarreal 4: Granada 4.

As for personal ratings, Whoscored rated Azeez’s contributions with an impressive 6.16 while Chukwueze was rightly rated even better with 7.8.

    Both players played well.

If someone is rated 6.16 for having a minimal game time it suggests he was very good, whoscored knows their job.
Meanwhile,Abduljelil Ajagun who was a great attacking midfielder with the under 20 same team as Azeez six years ago,is having a great season in Belgium with Kortrijk.
Ajagun is a natural no 10 and was phenomenal in his youth days.I hope he continues in his current form so he can move to a better team.I believe he’s the kind of player super eagles need in the offensive midfield but not very fortunate with transfers rather than talent, which has hindered his progression to the super eagles.
However, this year could just be his break out season.
