Chukwueze Set For 30th Laliga Game, Eyes First Goal In Six Months

Nigeria international, Samuel Chukwueze is in line to make his 30th Spanish Laliga appearance of the season when Villarreal welcome Sevilla to the Estadio de la Ceramica.

Chukwueze will be eagerly looking forward to putting an end to his La Liga goal drought which currently stands at 16 matches when action begins on Monday night.

The 21-year-old has scored three goals and contributed four assists in 29 Spanish top-flight matches for the Yellow Submarine during the 2019/20 season but last found target in November.

On that occasion, the forward scored a consolation goal when Villarreal lost 3-1 to Celta Vigo in the reverse fixture on 24 November, 2019 at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

Chukwueze has hit top gear since the season restarted following the long break due to the novel coronavirus pandemic after all but helping Villareal to win their first two matches.

He was also in action last week Friday after replacing Javier Ontiveros in the 65th minute of Villarreal’s 1-0 win over Ramon Azeez’s Granada at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes.

The Super Eagles winger had a 67% successful pass rate, won one aerial contest in the encounter and made one tackle in an effort to help his side maintain their lead.

Chukwueze will hope to help his side continue their winning form when they face Sevilla with the Yellow Submarine having won each of their last three games with an identical 1-0 scoreline.
