Community Marathon Series: Asagba Of Asaba Endorses Asaba 10km Road Race

The Asagba of Asaba, HRM Joseph Chike Edozien, CFR, JP, the traditional ruler of Asaba kingdom has endorsed the Asaba 10km Road Race slated to hold in Asaba town tentatively on the 30th of April 2022 while receiving the Community Marathon Torch from the organizers in his palace.

The Monarch gave his blessing and also lauded the initiative which he stated will help to create healthy living, foster unity and communal love to the great people of Asaba and Delta at large. The monarch also prayed for a successful and hitch-free event.

According to the palace secretary, Chief Patrick Ndili who coordinated the presentation ceremony, he assured the organizers that the people of Asaba will participate massively and are willing to render necessary assistance to ensure a successful event.

During a courtesy visit and presentation of Asaba 10Km Road Race Memorabilia to Hon. Obi Kelvin Ezenyili, Executive Chairman, Oshimili South Local Government Area Council,Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria.

In a related development, Organizers of the Community Marathon Series, revealed that they expect a record number of participants at the Asaba event as compared with previous road race events.

According to Project director of the event, Moses Nwanze, the Asaba marathon is expected to consolidate on the gains and success of the previous editions .

The organizer also stated that the Asaba 10km road race is open to local athletes in Nigeria and that participation for Asaba Road will be free. Further information about the proposed road race will be revealed in the coming days.

The Community Marathon Series officially flagged off on the 2nd of October with the Festac 10km road race, where Ismael Sadjo of Cross River state emerged winner in the male category, while Joy Abiye David won the female event. The duo also repeated their winning feat at the second edition that held at Lekki on the 29th of January 2022.

There will be Cash prizes at the Asaba 10km Road race for both male and female winners with various cash awards to the top 3 athletes in the male and female category.
