Conor McGregor Set To Take On Dustin Poirier

Conor McGregor is one of the most famous names in the UFC, the bad boy of the sport. As such, there are plenty of UFC fans and sports betting fans looking forward to the upcoming bout against Dustin Poirier on the 23rd January 2021. These two have quite the history and the fight is definitely well anticipated by all. However, most major sports betting such as Sportsbet, will have McGregor as the favourite by quite a margin.

The fight, which will take place in Abu Dhabi this month, sees these two old rivals ready to settle old scores. The last time they went toe to toe, McGregor stopped Poirier in the first round. But, this was six years ago and nothing is the same. McGregor’s star rose in the sport. He became the first UFC fighter to hold world titles in two different divisions at the same time. However, Poirier also saw some success, beating names such as Eddie Alvarez, Dan Hooker, Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje, and earning himself the interim UFC lightweight title.

A Lot at Stake

There is a lot at stake for both of these fighters, which is the appeal of the fight for fans. With Khabib having retired, and the title being up for grabs, whoever wins this will surely head his way up to the front of the queue for the title. The opposite can be said for the loser.

As such, people will be eagerly anticipating the match to see what happens, with the main action scheduled for 10 pm E.T. on the 23rd January, with the undercard set to start at 6.30 pm E.T. The action should go on till at least midnight, giving players value for money.

Fans of the fight, that can’t make it all the way to Abu Dhabi, can watch the action on the ESPN+ subscription on a Pay Per View basis, and a number of online betting sites will allow you to live stream the fight if you put a decent size wager on it. If opting for the PPV option, then don’t expect it to come cheap, as this is a hotly anticipated match up, and the price will very much reflect that.

Who Will Win?

The biggest question is who will win this epic bout? Well, without a doubt, the favourite to take the win is McGregor, with all sports betting sites favouring the Irishman. However, no one can count out Poirier, as anything can happen, and the closer the fight gets, the better the odds are for a Poirier win.

Their stats are both very impressive, with men both of a similar age, the same height, although McGregor has the reach advantage. Looking at records, McGregor has had 26 professional fights, with a record of 22-4. Meanwhile, Poirier has had an impressive 33 total fights, with a record of 26-6.

Both fighters will go out, all guns blazing to get the win and to take themselves one step closer to the UFC lightweight title.
