Lyon winger Maxwel Cornet says he is “flattered” to be linked with Liverpool and has refused to rule out a move. The 22-year-old is one of a number of Lyon players understood to be on Liverpool’s radar after impressing in Ligue 1.
Nabil Fekir, Memphis Depay and Tanguy Ndombele have also been linked with the Anfield outfit over recent months. Cornet, who is under contract at Lyon until 2021, recently failed to agree a new deal with Lyon and admits he is “flattered” to be linked with Liverpool.
“I did not say I wanted to leave,” Cornet told beIN Sports France when asked about his future at the club. “We met the president [Jean-Michel Aulas] in January, and I said I wanted to extend [my contract], but talks were not successful.
“Liverpool are a big club, any links are flattering. I’m under contract until 2021, but you never know in football so we’ll see.”
