Coronavirus Scare For Moses, Aina; Four Serie A Games Postponed

Nigerian stars, Victor Moses and Ola Aina could not feature for their respective clubs in Italy at the weekend after four Serie A games were called off due to Coronavirus outbreak in the country, Completesports.com reports.

Moses who currently plies his trade with Inter Milan had their home fixture against Sampdoria postponed while Aina’s Torino also had their home tie against Parma called off as the Coronavirus outbreak continues to have a significant effect on the sporting calendar.

No decision has yet been made as to when the games will be played as the Italian government have embarked on “extraordinary measures” to try and contain the outbreak of the virus which has claimed two lives in northern Italy in the last two days.

All sporting fixture due to take place in the Lombardy Veneto regions have also been cancelled over fears of Coronavirus outbreak, with the Women’s Six Nations clash between Italy and Scotland initially set for Sunday also postponed.

Formula One’s Chinese Grand Prix and the World Athletics Indoor Championships, due to take place in China in March, are among the most high-profile events to have been called off, along with several events on golf’s PGA and European tours.

The IOC has insisted that the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games set to take place this summer will go ahead as planned.
