Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo scored his fifth goal of the season for Shanghai Shenhua in Friday’s 2-1 away defeat to Guangzhou R&F in a Chinese Super League clash, Completesports.com reports.
An own goal from Zhu Jianrong in additional time handed Shanghai Shenhua a third league defeat of the season. They had previously lost to Shanghai SIPG and Hebei China Fortune in their opening two league games
Eran Zahavi shot Guangzhou R&F into the lead after 65 minutes – his fifth of the season before Ighalo restored parity for Shanghai Shenhua in the 90th minute of the encounter.
The strike took Ighalo’s tally to five in five games this season.
Ighalo is currently the joint top scorer in the Chinese Super League along with Zahavi with five goals each.
Following the defeat, Shanghai Shenhua are now eight in the CSL table with six points from five games.
Shanghai Shenhua will face Wuhan Zall in their next league game on Sunday 21st April 2019.
