Danilo held talks with Pep Guardiola on Wednesday and could yet end up staying at the Etihad, according to Manchester City insiders. It’s understood the Brazil defender sat down after training with his manager and his immediate future was top of the agenda.
Danilo is aware the Citizens do maintain a strong interest in Juventus and Portugal right-back Joao Cancelo, who is believed to fancy the switch but would cost £50million. Premier League champions City, however, don’t currently have the room to accommodate another foreign player on their roster unless someone moves out. Danilo is linked with Inter Milan but Guardiola isn’t forcing the likeable Samba star out of the door.
He feels having a Brazil international as back-up to England’s first-choice right-back Kyle Walker would certainly be the envy of most top clubs. City have relayed that view to the versatile 28-year-old, who arrived from Real Madrid two seasons ago for £26m – a figure the club would still demand if Danilo informs them in the coming days that he wants to quit.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
