Davies Joins Wales After Op Delay

Tottenham defender Ben Davies has linked up with the Wales’ squad for their Euro 2020 qualifiers after his groin surgery was postponed.

The 26-year-old left-back was not expected to be in Wales’ boss Ryan Giggs’ plans for the upcoming games against Croatia and Hungary because he had been pencilled in to go under the knife after Spurs’ Champions League final against Liverpool in Madrid on Saturday.

However, with that operation on hold, Davies has now made himself available for his nation as they look to build on their opening Group E win against Slovakia.

A Football Association of Wales statement on Tuesday morning said: “Ben Davies has joined up with the Wales squad this morning as his scheduled treatment has been postponed.”

Davies was an unused substitute in Spurs’ 2-0 defeat against Liverpool and it is not known if his groin issue would allow him to play both matches in the space of four days. However, his availability will be a boost to Giggs.
