Dawson Ready To Fight For His Spot

New Watford defender Craig Dawson says he knows he will face a serious fight to get into the first team following his summer move. The 29-year-old agreed to leave West Brom and move south on July 1 and he put pen to paper on a four-year contract.

Dawson made 194 appearances for West Brom before moving onto pastures new but he claims he still has to fight to get into the first team. Craig Cathcart, Daryl Janmaat, Sebastian Prodl, Adrian Mariappa, and Christian Kabasele all stand in his way but Dawson says he never expected any favours from coach Javi Gracia. He told Premier League Productions: “I’ve been very impressed with the coach.

It’s just been everything, really; his passion for football, his detail. Every little detail is covered. Every player knows what is asked from him and what his role is. “I’ve had a lot of conversations [with Javi]. He wants me to play an important part in the squad. There is lots of competition and great players in the squad and everyone is pushing for a starting place.”
