De Gea Decision Within Two Weeks

David De Gea’s contract stand-off at Manchester United could be resolved within the next fortnight, according to senior sources.

The Spaniard has been holding out on a decision over whether to commit himself to a new five-year offer from the Red Devils, worth a basic £350,000-per week.

However, United’s owners, the Glazers, were informed over the weekend that the outstanding goalkeeper wants to stay, having been won over by the turnaround under caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Old Trafford chiefs are increasingly confident there will soon be good news to share with their supporters, with more talks set to take place next week involving De Gea’s camp.

United were forced to activate their 12-month extension option at the start of the year to avoid the 28-year-old from walking away for free at the end of this campaign.

De Gea arrived from Atletico Madrid in 2011 for £19m and has gone on to establish himself as one of the best shot-stoppers in the world, although it is believed he was concerned with the general direction the Manchester giants were heading in before Jose Mourinho’s December sacking.
