Decision On Peseiro Will Be Made After AFCON 2023 –Sports Minister, Enoh

The fate of Jose Peseiro as Super Eagles head coach will be decided after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations that will be held in Cote D’Ivoire from January 13 to February 11 2024, Nigeria’s Minister of Sports Development Senator John Enoh has divulged, Completesports.com reports.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, November 28 in his office as part of activities to mark his 100 days in office, Senator Enoh said any action regarding Peseiro’s job with Super Eagles can only come up after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

“I am happy to inform you that just about yesterday or two days ago, I had a meeting with the President, General Secretary and the Technical Department of the NFF regarding the Super Eagles’ underperformance in recent games,” Enoh said.

“What we came out of – that is that you know I’ve had to request that the coach be summoned, and I think at some point next week there’s going to be an engagement with the coach along with NFF chieftains

“All of that is trying to respond to the outcome of these matches, especially the World Cup qualifying games.”

Reacting to calls from some football stakeholders that Peseiro should be sacked over poor results, Enoh said that despite the passion of Nigerians for football, the decision to sack a coach is not taken due to emotions.

He said, “As a Minister, I am deeply concerned with the fortunes of the national team in recent times, but AFCON is around the corner and the contract of Peseiro is tied to the fortunes of the Super Eagles at the football fiesta.

“As a Minister, I am concerned that the Nigerian national team is not delivering, not meeting up with our expectations. AFCON is so close that we need to be careful in what decisions we make. But the next qualification rounds for the World Cup – the next match is in June – so it gives us something you know, to take decisions going forward.

“AFCON is going to start about January 14. Are we, for example, going to request to fire the Nigerian Coach? I mean, the answer is as good as mine.

“I have found out that in this sector; there are passions and emotions. Where you are seated and where I am providing leadership, you don’t respond. You know you are not driven by passions and emotions. No, you take your time,” Eno stated.

Political interference on Nigeria football as Minister of Sport will decide about Peseiro fate of leading Super Eagles in the next AFCON. Cup in Cote De’Ivore, so this decision will hurt SE in this tournament, cause Peseiro is flopped and culeless coach who has not known Nigeria football culture; he failed to provide nice football for SE , cause he came with new culture in football style of play; SE cluture in football are playing with short and quick passes, playing crosses passes, playing through passes by attacking midfielders, have strong goalkeepers, playing total football; but Peseiro has been leading SE with versa style of playing just like playing long balls, attacking and offensive football without strict defensive style, he has not depended on crosses balls , he play with 4-4-2 which SE do not habituate; SE habituate to play with 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3; all these factors have made Peseiro to fail on leading SE on the right track in World Cup qualifier; so if Pesiro will lead SE in the next tournament I think SE , will get out from this tournament early from the frist round of it.I recomnend to sack Peseiro and hire Daniel Amokache assisted by Emmanuel Amuniki, Ike Shorounmu, Manu Garaba and other coaches as interm coaches; if they won this toournament, NFF should grant them confidence to lead SE for the other matches of World Cup qualifier which will begin on june 2024.If they failed , NFF should hire foreign coaches one of them just like France coaches Reymond Domenech or Jaquette Santini or one of Dutch coaches just like Frank Rijkaard or Philip Cocu or Patric Kulijfurt.

Good morning my country people, Jose Peseiro should be sack immediately before the 2023 Afcon proper in Ivory Coast (Cote’D Ivoir)if we are to advance even through the round of 16.

Secondly let’s shun politics and corruptions in the football sector.

We have a lot of indeginous coaches that can lead Nigeria Super Eagles to the greater heights which I don’t want to mention their names and we all know.

You see, am not against hiring a foreign coach but let it be a world class coach which I wouldn’t mention their names as I said earlier because we all know.
Another thing is that, When we hire coach, we should allow him to do his job by selecting his best legs to play assign.
We should not interfere in the area of selections for him and the selected players should be patriotic, they should play with zeal, courage, they should regards, respects and honor the The National color they put on off and on the field of play.
We should also do our very best to pay coach salary and bonuses as well as players when due.
We should no longer bring a lowly rated coach only for us to put eye in his salary and bonuses as well as players in the name of agreement or T & C, this attitude kills football development alot.

By not paying Peseiro’s salary, but discussing daily how he will be sacked, the NFF and Sports Minister blunder on basic personnel management principles. Never keep a crucial employee demotivated. He could sabotage and destroy the company!

  • Funny country my prediction Nigeria will be knocked out in the quarter finals in AFCON, Pesiero will leave his post and they will foolishly employ Finidi who can’t qualify us to the world cup.
