Deeney – Much More To Come

Watford striker Troy Deeney believes the only way is up for the Hornets after they stunned Wolves to progress to the FA Cup final.

Watford were on the verge of semi-final heartache on Sunday when trailing 2-0 at Wembley but Deeney’s injury-time equaliser from the penalty spot took the game to extra-time.

Gerard Deulofeu’s second goal of the game in the added period secured a remarkable 3-2 win to set up a final meeting with Manchester City on May 18 and Deeney believes it could just be the start.

The forward knows Javi Gracia’s side are far from the finished article but he sees plenty of potential at Vicarage Road as they aim for a top-seven Premier League finish this season too.

He said: “We’ve got room to grow. We’re a team that doesn’t have a ceiling on it just yet.

We’re not seventh [in the Premier League], we’re not in the top 10 regularly so there’s still loads to do. ” Deeney also joked he was under pressure from the club’s up-and-coming youngsters to keep his place but he’s desperate to do well and earn a new deal.

He added: “Personally, it’s just a case of, with these young boys coming up who are keeping me on my toes, making sure I try to get this new deal.

If anyone’s watching, I’d like a new deal thank you!”
