Lazio manager Marco Baroni believes Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has the potential to become ‘a great modern midfielder’.
Dele-Bashiru put up an impressive display in Lazio’s UEFA Europa League win over Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday night.
The Nigeria international scored and provided an assist in the 3-0 victory at Hamburg.
Before the game, Baroni said he was expecting a lot from the young midfielder, who was moved to a more advanced trequartista role.

The 23-year-old showed the gaffer he is ready for the big stage with his superb display.
“When I say that he needs to be built, I mean that he must focus more on tactics and how to fill the game rather than only when the ball is at his feet,” Baroni told Sky Sport Italia.
” Once he gets that, Dele-Bashiru will become a great modern midfielder.
“I’ve never had a squad with this much quality, so I am seeking mobility to create superiority on the pitch. We are working hard in training and all share this vision. They believe in this work and that makes everything easier.
“I am accustomed to working with young players and that often means taking the responsibility and pressure off their shoulders. The players should feel the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them.”

You are right coach. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is already turning out a great midfielder, both in defensive and particularly attacking role. I see him displacing the slow Wilfred Ndidi and the sometime ineffective Alex Iwobi in the SE engine room.
I particularly liked his quick link up play in the game against Rwanda in Kigali and his well-taken goal against South Africa in the 1-1 draw in Uyo in the WCQ 3rd round match.
The guy na Agba baller. I rate him highly. The midfield is now complete with Frank 4 Ndidi 8 Fisayo 10. Ndidi that I have criticised is good in 1 vs 1 than someone who has never successfully dribbled a player in the EPL.
We don’t need 5 defenders
five defenders is because we lack quality defenders, the two pairings are always shaky and can’t withhold pressure.
Another reason is because the current formation favoured Lookman who is dangerous as a false 9 or support striker.
