Juan Martin del Potro has provided a positive update on his comeback from injury after returning to the practice court. Argentinian star Del Potro’s injury curse struck once again this summer after he suffered a fractured right patella during his first-round match at the Queen’s Club Fever Tree Championships.
Amazingly, the world number 71 managed to defeat Canadian Denis Shapovalov before then realising after the contest that he had picked up the knee injury, which resulted in his immediate withdrawal from the tournament. The 30-year-old, who won the US Open back in 2009, underwent yet another operation to resolve the issue and there were question marks as to whether he would return to competitive action.
However, Del Potro recently posted a video on Twitter that showed him practising on an indoor court and everything looks positive for the Argentine ahead of the 2020 campaign. If all goes to plan, the 2016 Olympic silver medallist could be back in action for the Australian Open in January.
