Dennis Equals Premier League Record Held By Cantona, Klinsmann, Robben

Emmanuel Dennis on Sunday equalled the Premier League record set by Eric Cantona, Jurgen Klinsmann, Andrey Arshavin, Arjen Robben and Bruno Fernandes.

Dennis was on target for Watford in their 4-2 defeat at Leicester City, after getting his side’s second goal.

He has now scored five goals and provided five assists in 12 Premier League games for Watford.

This means he is only the sixth player in Premier League history to reach both five goals and five assists in 12 or fewer games, after Eric Cantona (11 games), Jurgen Klinsmann (12 games), Arjen Robben (11 games), Andrey Arshavin (10 games) and Bruno Fernandes (nine games).

Also on target in Sunday’s game was Ademola Lookman, who opened his Premier League goals account for Leicester.

  • I think its time we get a coach that can do the right thing and either bench players like iwobi, musa, simon, collins, Ekong, iheanacho for more enterprising players like Dennis, chukwueze, aina/bassey/zaidu, akpoguma and nwakaili/nwobodo, sadiq/ awoniyi or give them some time away from the Super Eagles to rediscover themselves.

    • @Sporfsfan, so we should bench iwobi for Nwakali/Nwobodo abi?
U try…e better make Rohr remain then.

      • What contributions has iwobi made to the team in the last few games he has played? I am one of iwobi’s supporters, I see him as one player that is needed in the team but of recent he hasn’t been adding much to the team in terms of creativity. Its a problem he faces in his club as well. So what do we do in such case, do we continue to use a player who has lost form and see the team suffer for it or do we bring in players who can do the job even if they are playing in lower leagues? Lets see what the coach decided

    • @sportsfan…..I understand your anger but dumping more EPL players for lower division players and Turkish league players in not advisable now……We have too many lower division players already and they are already dead weight on SE which we are trying to do away with…..Sodiq Nwakali Nwobodo and co should move up to a top5 league and come over to SE camp to fight for a place instead of languishing in lower leagues and expectating SE invitation to come and meet them there…….As for the other players you mentioned they are good to go.

You can shout as loud as you can… but the truth you refuse to see is that the players themselves want to fly or die with GR.

History has it that MOST TIMES only three people have the power to sack a coach either country or club.
      1. THE Oga at the top (country/club)
      2. THE FA
      3. THE players
One among these can not sack a coach, it has to be a clear majority of 2:1.

      NOW IN NIGERIA’S case

The oga at the top (Senate and House) are backing GR full time
The players (with Musa the captain) are not moving ground on supporting GR
The NFF is sitting on the fence…body language says SACK but their head says DONT SACK when you do not have the fund to pay GR

Do the maths. It’s less than 5 weeks to a major competition and the only time to meet with the players will be in 3 weeks to camp a week before the competition starts… Even Sir. Alex Fergason will not take the job.

The only shortcut to sack GR is IF AND ONLY when he doesn’t win AFCON as agreed in the document signed.

My fellow SE fans, you be die-hard fan abi na creazy fan… oga no kee ya sef.

      The dice are cast:
      1. If you want GR to be sacked, just wish the team bad luck not to win the next AFCON. Because If SE wins AFCON 2022, GR stays because he met his target again.

      2. If the players want to keep GR as the coach they must win AFCON 2022 which is the target given to him. How they play to win was not included in the contract GR signed.

      3. If the NFF wants to sack GR they should make the administrative/management of the team to AFCON 2022 the worst ever so that the team will fail even before kicking the first ball.

      4. If the President (Senate and House with team Captain Musa northern connections) wants to keep GR, they know the strings of power to pull.

Like said earlier. your shout will not change the card on the board. It’s beyond being a fan.

Dennis the menace! This is what we’ve been saying. Even if Rohr has a quarrel with Dennis, he will not dare to leave him out of the next list. Produce consistently, and no coach can ignore you indefinitely.

      I love it!

This is the first time am commenting here.
It is not about inviting new players but will rohr use them against his favoured players?
He be invited like Calvin no doubt but will he be on the field or on the bench for 90min?
I think is time rohr leaves for someone who understands football technicality

Emanuel Dennis is a baller. He has shown formidable consistency in the English premier league, that it has now become impossible to overlook him, except coach Rohr and the NFF are unserious and have no plans of making it to Qatar or doing well at the AFCON in Cameroun next January. Awoniyi has also been doing very well in the Bundesliga and I wish Victor Osimhen a speedy recovery (although he may have to miss the next AFCON to recuperate). Also, the following underperforming and inconsistent Super Eagles players like Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho, Troost-Ekong, Shehu Abdulahi, Paul Onuachu and Akpeyi should be benched for a while so as to rediscover themselves. Invitation to Super Eagles should not be based on primordial sentiments but should be on merit if the team is to make any future progress so that the current retrogression can stop. The coach (Rohr) and the NFF should extend invitations to all players of Nigerian descent who are currently in form when the pre-AFCON preparations and World cup play-off preparations begin.

On another note, the NFF should try to provide VAR facilities at the Abuja National stadium; and also discuss with the Akwa Ibom state Govt and the private sector to provide a VAR facility at the Uyo stadium or risk playing the next Super Eagles home game during the World cup playoffs in March outside Nigeria (possibly in Morocco or Cameroun) as CAF has decided that countries without VAR facilities will lose the home stadium advantage during the March, 2022 playoffs. Over to you Mr.Pinnick and the NFF. A word is enough for the wise.

I read sometime ago with picture evidence that VAR facilities plus a new score board was installed at the Abuja stadium

Ekong is a disaster about to happen on the big stage. Be reminded.

His supporters will be out to kill you with this statement lol….. we keep saying it week in week out but they think we just hate him.

  • Whatever happened to Rohr’s audible shouts from the rooftop some years back that, the prime criterion for a player’s invitation to the Super Eagles is playing in a top 5 league?

He as well was charging his lads to pull their weight and be getting consistent playing time in their clubsides. It no coincidence that in that period he got his best results with the Super Eagles. The players were always kept on their toes lest they lost their shirt in the national team.

Why this egregious volte facé and inviting players based on past glory?

If the likes of Dennis, Awoniyi, goalkeeper Adeleye etc like, let them be scoring 50 goals per season or keeping clean sheets all matches as the case may be in their clubsides, they will not be invited under Rohr.

The likes of Musa,Ighalo,Shehu etc can be playing in backwater leagues and even be warming the bench, they will always be invited on the strength of what they’ve done in the past with the Super Eagles.

I hope I’m making sense and my logic is clear.
Welcome to Rohrbish School Of Thought Of Player Selection.

Let’s enjoy this ride. We move!

  • Why does Nigeria deserve to qualify when players like Dennis are missing out of International football and Musa is still our Cpatain.. Nigeria at the moment deserves no good favour by the footballing Gods until she strats treating more deserving players properly. This is the reason we are shooting blanks on the international stage. When the stats compared with Who Rohr prefers as opposed to who he doesn’t. This is a SHocker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lookman also Scored for Leicester City. WHy does Nigeria fans even compalin does who favour Rohr have no leg to stand interms of expecting anything good from this team until we band together and demand some explanations as to how we can even think of Going to a major Competition whiout our main Arsenals. This is TOTALY UNACCEPTABLE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED!!!!!!!!!!! .. On form Dennis, Lookman and Victor Moses should be in the nations cup squad period!!!

  • If iwobi and nwobodo will do a better job in midfield than iwobi why shouldn’t he be benched.
Please note that the best players are not always playing in the biggest and best leagues.
