The Nigeria international’s cross was slotted in from close range by Josh King for the game’s opening goal a minute before the half hour mark.

Three minutes into added time the striker set up substitute Joao Pedro to make it 3-1 and just two minutes later he added the fourth from a tight angle.

The 24-year–old has now scored four goals and recorded five assists in 11 league appearances for the Hornets this season.

Musa should resign or retired and leave that space for our abundant young talented wingers. He has served well and we appreciate all he has done. But honestly speaking his time is up. Also Igaho shouldn’t be call up again. I watched Awoyini yesterday and his performance was simply awesome. I don’t really know the criteria use by Rohr for inviting players. I recall very well how Brazil stop inviting some of their player who move from Chelsea to a team in china . If u don’t play in a top five league or at home u cannot make Brazilian National team. Same with Germany. Spain and other top Football nations. NNF must state and by rules for inviting players to our National teams .

      Ha ha ha!
Do you see Sadio Sane banging in goals for Senegalese national team the way he does in Liverpool? What about Mo Salah?
Some people continued making the same mistake and hoping to be heard, it doesn’t work that way.
Probably you don’t know playing African national side is not the same as playing in a club side.
Besides, there’s no basis of comparison between Brazil, Germany and Nigeria. Rohr would put his doubters to shame when the SE filed out against Egypt on Jan. 11th.

      • Steve 2 years ago

It’s almost 6 years and we are still talking about “putting doubters to shame”?.
It’s sackabale to lose against CAR at home but to do that without a shot on shot target is criminal.
Rohr lacks idea and coaches have been sacked for less

        • Johnson 2 years ago

See you or how many are you in one.
Rohr qualified us for the playoffs which is what is part of the contract. I had carefully scrutinized the clauses in NFF+Rohr agreement, didn’t see where fanciful style of play was inputed. Targets there are qualify us for the WC and ensure SE gets to the finals of Afcon. It depends on your meaning of shaming doubters. Rohr has always done that and is certain to do that on the 11th of January in our first match.

          • Destano 2 years ago

Johnson you are a big madman, so does that mean six years no improvement in the national team and he shouldn’t be sacked.

      • Does that mean that Senegal dropped mane and invited a player that is retired and playing in the Saudi league?

        • Johnson 2 years ago

You need experience players in Afcon, Sane has it.

          • Mr Hush 2 years ago

How did Sane get experience if not given an opportunity to acquire such experience?

          • @Johnson we don’t need experience we need quality thank you. And if we must get experience the VM is all we need. Moreover the boys have enough with out Musa and Ighalo. We don’t need them there experience will be less effective than Dennis and Awoniyi quality.. thanks

      • Chris 2 years ago

This is not an intelligent arguement. If Salah and Mane does not perform for their countries they way they perform for Liverpool, did that stop their coaches from inviting them? How do you determine the form of a player before invitation if not from their club performance. That was how the incompetent Rohr refused to invite Onuachu after he had scored 30+ goals in a season if not that fans mounted pressure of NFF and the coach, the same Onuachu after he was invited became the hero of the day. Rohr should be fired.

      • Chinenye 2 years ago

Judging by your narrative then super eagles team should be made up of home base players only. No need of inviting foreign base since they’re not used to playing African opponents

        • Johnson 2 years ago

I can help you. A mixture of those with experience in Afcon and the young players.

  • Rohrbish school of thought of player selection has kept this talent out of the Super Eagles.

  • MONKEY POST 2 years ago

I read where somebody is calling the out of form and underperforming Man U ‘Almighty’ cos Denis scored against them and so he was trying to make a case as to why Rohr didn’t invite him…my dear as it is now even a below average player can be lucky enough to get a hatrick against man..whats the big deal??you guys can be really funny. Are you kidding me? The current Man U, almighty??!! Am sure you are speaking from the past. LMAO!!!!

    • Mr Hush 2 years ago

      @Monkeypost
A Manchester United team made up of English, Spanish, Swedish, Serbian, Portuguese internationals.

Oh…and Don’t forget, playing in arguably the best league in the world, in a make or burst game.
And yeah, Dennis playing under an experience manager in Claudio Ranieri with his strike partners being Senegalese, Norwegian Internationals..

Please don’t undermine Dennis’ effort justify Rohr’s error

    • So by your own warped reasoning, an Ighalo playing in Saudi League or a Musa playing in Turkish league are playing against clubs who are way better than Man United at its lowest ebb to have warranted their invitations to the Super Eagles.

That Emmanuel Dennis scored against a ‘below par’ Man U side in the EPL doesn’t mean he can hold his own against any club in the Saudi League or in the Turkish League.

      Clap for yourself. You try.

  • Gowetok 2 years ago

    Well said @JimmyBalls

  • Johnson 2 years ago

    @ Chris
Kindly flip tru the history of Afcon, without experience you can’t win it.
Chipolopolo of Zambia would’ve won it in 1994 but lost to a more experienced Super Eagles, ask Dodo Mayana, he is alive. You people come here knowing nothing.
Never allow Aghahowa, Peterside Idah to deceive you.
Even the Minister of Sports must weigh his onions properly before making any decision. I tell u, I don’t envy Sunday Dare right now, not in the least. Rohr has largely been successful but it is not for me to decide.

    • Chris 2 years ago

No one will argue that experience does not pay off, it does. Bringing in experienced players doesn’t mean you will bring an older player in place of a younger and more in form player who performs excellently in a highly competitive league. Talking about experience, Omeruo, Ekong, Balogun and Etebo are very experienced players. If the coach had brought in Victor Moses, I think a lot of people would have applauded him, not Ighalo please.

  • Emeka 2 years ago

Johnson, are you insinuating that Rohr would take SE to AFCON 2022?

  • RESPECT IS RECIPROCAL 2 years ago

MONKEYPOST SAID DENISE IS AN AVERAGE PLAYER LET ME HOWEVER TELL YOU THAT THERE ARE MILLIONS OF PLAYERS AROUND THE GLOBE AND IT TAKES MORE THAN AVERAGE EFFORTS TO BE PLAYING IN THE TOP 5 LEAGUES NOT ALONE THE ENGLISH PREMIERSHIP AND IT TAKES EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS LIKE DENISE TO BE SCORING AND GIVING ASSIST DAY IN DAY OUT.
ITS PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT PUSHED ROHR INTO DESTRUCTION,IF YOU HAD JOINED THOSE OF US SHOUTING THEN THAT ROHR HAS NOT BEEN FAIR TO SOME PLAYERS MAYBE BY NOW WE WONT BE TALKING OF WHERE EAGLES ARE.
THIS DENISE CAN PLAY 8 OR 10 FOR EAGLES YET THAT OLD MAN SAW NOTHING GOOD IN HIM. LOOOK AT HIS TOUCHES ,CONFIDENCE, TAKING RISK .HOW MANY EAGLES OF TODAY CAN DO THAT EVEN CHUKWU ,SIMON,AND KALU THAT USED TO BE ENTERPRISING IN THE PAST SUDDENLY WENT OFF THE RAIL. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THAT QUACK WAS TEACHING THEM ON THE FIELD THAT MADE THEM LOOSE THEIR RYTHM OF PLAY
OSIMEN THAT WE ARE ALL PRAISING TODAY ROHR WAS RELUCTANT TO GIVE HIM OPPORTUNITY UNTILL THE FANS ACROSS THE GLOBE SHOUTED .

  • MONKEY POST 2 years ago

Don’t get me wrong. Denis is a great player with room to be even more greater. But against the current man u led by the coach who has just be sacked, I feel you guys are overhyping things.. If it were to be against Liverpool, Chelsea or mancity then ok..

    • Mr Hush 2 years ago

      @Monkey post

      Question;

How many players, good, great or not , do fantastically well against Liverpool,Man city or Chelsea?

Besides, Dennis has always done well even before he got to the EPL. If he hasn’t, I don’t think he would be bought to play in the Premiership.

Man United is in a blight of form doesn’t undermine Dennis man of the match performance. The praise (not hype) is in order.

  • Mr Hush 2 years ago

    And football is football.
    If you’re good; you’re good.
Your call up to the national team is always based on your performance in the clubside.

If you one don’t get the opportunity to play in an Afcon, how do one get experience? How do one prove his worth (or not)?

Merit is everything. People should be given the opportunity to prove their mantle as long as they deserve it.They earned it.

  • MONKEY POST 2 years ago

Ok. you know what? You all win. Denis is a world class player. Happy now? Can I rest now??? SMH…

    • @MONKEY POST you have been knocking your head calling Dennis average and Musa great to justify Your God Rohr mediocre brain. With numerous trial and error I tried to make you see clarity you refused, you went on a crusade supporting Rohr and Pinnicks atrocity when it comes to player selection of late.. until we almost lost our World Cup place barring d3vine intervention. God then tries to show you the truth with Dennis and Awoniyi man of the match performances a few days after criminally being over looked by Rohr. And you stand there and call Dennis Average.. infact I was going to intervene but I am glad some sense has finally been knocked in your Monkey Nut brain.

  • J.jaspa 2 years ago

He would’ve been invited to play u23.

  • “League football is different from country football”. But Hermit Rohr was shouting from the rooftop some years ago that the cardinal criterion for invitation into the Super Eagles is playing in the top 5 league.

  • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

Looking at all our forwards and wingers right now. Dennis should be one of the first names in the first 11. But truth is that Dennis struggled last season in Germany. He was very good for Brugge in Belgium when he was called up. However, from what I’ve seen of him so far this season cum his champions league experience in recent seasons he should be well equipped now for international football. I like his trickery and hold up play. Very hard to displace him off the ball. Simon looks predictable, Kalu is not commanding a first team shirt. Ejuke and Chukwueze are he only other players that can be compared in the same breath with him. Dennis have an edge because I think he can also play effectively as an Attacking midfielder with an eye for killer passes. No coach should be ignoring such a player with his current form. Awoniy, Osimhen, Dennis should be integrated together in the SuperEagles going forward.

  • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

Guys I think we might really be having an issue with Iwobi as our Attacking midfielder. I sincerely hope I’m wrong, Iwobi can’t make a pass without being intercepted by the opponent. He’s not daring enough for me to take on an opponent one on one. Watching him against City this morning is just an eyesore for me. The only thing I see in his game is his one two touches and crosses. Nothing else is spectacular to be honest. Like I said I really hope I’m wrong because he should be reaching his potentials now.

    • Walking 2 years ago

I thought I was the only that had this perspective about him.

He never challenges himself. Not at all.
And what nigerians will say is, he is a different person when he plays for thr eagles. Na lie, big lie.

Iwobi creativity dropped when he left arsenal. And till now, he has fanned cold both in Everton and super eagles colors.

I suppose a better replacement for him is also necessary in the eagles team

    • JimmyBall 2 years ago

I have said same about Iwobi since we came to realise Mungo Park met people swimming, fishing and canoeing on the Niger river and never discovered anything… people have been blind to Iwobi because of a few flash performance every now and then… you know, I believe Iwobi is suffering right now from a lack of self-belief and maybe as a result of expecting himself to by now be an established player wherever he is to be by now… he has it in him, he just need to practice and build good shooting, decision making and aggressive plays with some measure of tackles to go… It is well! I have said this for long but same may think I was playerhating… far from it! I applaud your honest assessment @Ayphillydegreat on this Iwobi continued dimming lights…
