Michel Der Zakarian celebrated signing a contract extension with Montpellier as his side defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 on Tuesday. The 56-year-old put pen-to-paper on a deal to keep him at the Stade de la Mosson until summer 2021 and then watched as his side twice came from behind to snatch a late win against the recently-crowned champions.
Presnel Kimpembe put through his own net, while Andy Delort and substitute Souleymane Camara were both on target to secure three points which move Montpellier to within five points of fourth-placed Saint Etienne. “The victory is well deserved,” Der Zakarian said at a press conference.
“We were irreproachable in our state of mind and we made the right choices.” Asked for his thoughts on the current problems for PSG, he added: “It is a great team, great players, a good coach. “They live a difficult time, but it happens to everyone.”
