Deulofeu Focused On Hornets For Now

Gerard Deulofeu insists he is concentrating his efforts on Watford but has refused to rule out a move away in the summer.

Having spent the second half of last season on loan with the Hornets, the Spain international penned permanent terms in the summer of 2018 and has made 28 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring nine goals.

His class shone through as Watford beat Wolves 3-2 after extra-time to advance to the FA Cup final at the weekend, while the Vicarage Road outfit sit 10th in the Premier League standings with 46 points to their name.

Deulofeu came through the youth ranks at Barcelona but failed to make the grade at first-team level, enjoying loan spells with Everton and Sevilla while at the Nou Camp.

He has been linked with a move away from Watford at the end of the campaign, with Milan said to be keen, but the 25-year-old seems happy to keep pushing on for his present employers – for the time being at least. “It is clear that whenever you receive offers or there are talks about interest of other clubs, it’s because you are doing well at your club,” he told Marca. “I will continue like this and we’ll see what happens.

At the moment I have to be focused here to finish well this season.” Asked if he would consider a third stint with Barca, the forward replied: “Barcelona is a past stage.

I already returned twice and could not be [successful] in either of them. “It is a stage that I consider closed. I do not want to live more from the past. I have my present and a great future that is on the other side.”
