Tennis star Novak Djokovic has confirmed his strong desire to compete in this year’s ATP Finals, boosted by a surprise decision to enter the ATP 500 event in Basel later this month as he makes a late push for Turin.
In recent years, the Serbian legend has adopted a carefully managed, limited tournament schedule, reserving his energy primarily for his historic pursuit of a 25th Grand Slam title.

Consequently, regular appearances at standard ATP Tour events have been rare. However, his hunger for silverware remains undiminished, highlighted by his recent triumph at the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing earlier this month.
While that victory briefly vaulted Djokovic into a qualifying spot for the season-ending championships, an event he has frequently skipped in recent seasons despite qualifying, he revealed a significant shift in his mindset for 2026.
Reflecting on his campaign following an early exit at the Shanghai Masters against Hubert Hurkacz, Djokovic said: “Beijing was great and a very early exit here, but it is okay. I had a great week in Beijing, and I look forward to resting a little bit and get ready for the indoors.”

When specifically asked about his plans for the ATP Finals, he added:
“I would like to. I am planning on only playing in Paris, so let’s see. Hopefully I can have a good result there.”
Djokovic currently sits 11th in the ATP Live Race to Turin. With the top nine spots securing qualification, following the confirmation that world No. 1 Jannik Sinner has ended his season early due to a knee injury, the race for the remaining indoor berths is set for a thrilling finish.
