Doku Will Be Important For Man City This Season –Ake

Manchester City defender Nathan Ake has hailed teammate Jeremy Doku’s mentality and display in their team’s 6-1 Premier League win over Bournemouth on Saturday, November 4 at the Etihad.

Doku scored first in the 30th minute of the game while Bernardo Silva grabbed a brace, Manuel Akanji, Phil Foden and Nathan Ake scored one goal apiece. Doku provided four assists in the encounter.

Surprisingly Premier League topscorer Erling Haaland didn’t get on the scoresheet.

Ake stated that Doku had a brilliant performance against The Cherries.

Jeremy (Doku) was fantastic,” mancity.com quoted Ake as saying.

“He was brilliant sometimes you need individual quality to open up the game and he did that. He was fantastic. His personality, he works hard, he’s a good guy and he gets on with everyone. He’s not shy to show his abilities, he wants to take on everyone even in training. He’s so difficult to mark and he’s going to be important this season.

“There’s always room for improvement to be made. Pep (Guardiola) is never happy or settled and neither are we, we have to keep going and improving. We expected them (Bournemouth) to play with four defenders as they have all season but they changed to five. It’s about finding the spaces.

“We love playing at home. It’s been a fortress for us here. It shows that we want to continue what we’ve been doing. Last week was a good game but the league goes on and you have to keep going and keep winning.”

Manchester City have now won all their last 15 home matches in 2023. They have been victorious in their last 22 matches at home across all competitions.

The Cityzens have 27 points from 11 games and have leapfrogged Tottenham Hotspur into first position with the win though Spurs will host Chelsea on Monday, November 6. Tottenham have 26 points from 10 Premier League games.

City sit atop the Group G standings in the UEFA Champions League with nine points after matchday three.

Doku has got two goals and five assists in eight Premiership games this term.

The 21 year old has three goals and six assists across 12 matches in all competitions this campaign.
