I know what you capable of Onuachu. Keep making me proud.

This is why I said our ex players are the best for the job.

The way Onuachu play is similar to Agali. Agali was properly managed during his days in the Super Eagles. But Onuachu of today can’t score goals for Nigeria because the distributors on both flanges couldn’t do their job well.

They claim that Onuachu is not for the national team how about Dessers?

Kudos to you Onuachu. Keep it up and never relents. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • Obidee 3 years ago

Wherever criticize Onuachu should have a rethink again…Oboi 18 goals in 18 matches is no child’s play.Gernot Right need to give him more games time

      • Kamalu 3 years ago

It is not about giving him game time. Our National team coach should study a way to use this talent in his team. It is not Onuachu’s problem rather the problem of the coach not been able to harness the potentials of the players at his disposal. Any good coach will unlock a best way solution to use onuachu in his team and not all about bringing in 23 players from overseas in two days and they run around the field. It is the work of the coach to find a formula that will help Onuachu deliver as well for Nigeria as he is doing in Belgium.

        • @Kamalu;

Oga this ur thrash is nonsense.

So PEP QUARDIOLA must change his playing style to suit LAROY SANE.

JOGEN KLOPP must change his playing style bcos of one SHAQIRI or ORIGI.

So bcos GIROUD rarely scores with his legs, LAMPARD must change his style of play so he can score as if he’s the only striker in the world.

Some pple sharr…… Their reasoning is so weird.

Tell ZIDANE to change his pattern of game to suit HAZARD else ZIDANE isn’t a world class coach.

Even when CR7 move to spain and uptil now, MOURINHO told him to forget about all those tricks and skills he use to do in EPL.
Why didn’t MOURINHO accept CR7’s pattern of game at MADRID?

When we see comment from pure hatred we know.

How can 10 players change their game pattern to suit one player.
This is absurd…. I never knew we had MESSI & CR7 in SE.

ONUACHU as a player must play his way into the team or he should forget about it.

In club players play their way into the team pattern if U doubt me ask IWOBI, FRED, ZOUMA, STONES, XHAKA etc.

    • NA ME TALK AM 3 years ago

@Omo9ja .. You claim the coach doesn’t know how 2 use Onuachu but you fail to tell yourself the truth below .

      – The team barely train for a week before their match
      – The players on the wings are professional , Yet how many of this so called professional crosses the ball into the opponent box both in their club and national team
      – A team that barely train for a week , yet you want the coach to teach professional footballers how to cross into the opponent box , play freekick and other basic thing they can learn on their own .
      – If the wingers chooses to play to gallery and have their style of pattern , do you think the coach can perfect the cross and nod tactic within few days of training
      – The coach might have his fault , but the players are responsible for their aswell and that include Onuachu himself .

Please don’t say the coach should teach professional players how 2 cross the ball , play corner kick , freekick and others , because that would be a big shame to the whole Nigerian national team .

Professional footballers have their own personal trainers , I have never come across any article both past or present that a COACH taught a certain professional player how 2 play freekick , cross the ball into the opponent box

This players are professionals , if they can’t learn the major basic need of improving their skills with personal trainers , then I’m sorry to say ; the Nigerian national team doesn’t have a TEAM .

You don’t expect KLOP , PEP , ZIDANE to start teaching a professional player , how to cross the ball or play freekick

If we must blame the coach , then we must blame the whole team and that include onuachu that fails to adapt to the team pattern

Suarez left Barcelona for A.Madrid and he’s still on fire . The only reason players flops both for their Club and National team is because they fail to adapt to the team playing pattern.

If a player cannot adapt to a team patter , then He or She is actually not a good professional player

      God bless Nigeria

  • Ako Amadi 3 years ago

Paul Onuachu the Gentle Giant takes responsibility for 2 penalty kicks and scores them. Keep it up!

  • I think d major problem here is our wingers de tend to play to gallery if it was in d days of finidi/amuneke n babangida d goals will be flowing, let’s ask ourselves d average statistics of our wingers crossing permatch before condemning onouachu

  • He is probably going to top the goals scorers chat by the end of the season in Belgium. I agree that the coach of the Super Eagles has a lot to do in terms of understanding the strengths of the players he invites and knowing how to use them. But our coach hasnt displayed such qualities. He just invites players based on their form and thrust them into the field hoping they will adapt to how he imagines they should play without considering their abilities, strengths or weaknesses. When they underperform he makes excuses only to invite them the next time and repeat the same mistake again.
Although im not a fan of paul, I see him putting alot of effort into scoring goals for his club. And though he isnt playing in one of the top 5 leagues in Europe, his goal haul is impressive (18 already).
My advice to coach rohr is if he is to invite Paul to the Super Eagles he should study how he plays and how he is used in his club. He should be ready to make changes to those who play alongside him and give him the kind of support he needs. Paul may be a striker but his style is much different to other strikers like osimhen, awoniyi, sadiq umar etc
So if Rohr is to invite him, he should be ready to bench players chukwueze musa, kalu who dont cross balls into the 18 yard box and use players like iwobi, simon on the wings. Otherwise he should leave paul alone, and invite other robust strikers who can adapt to his style of play.

    • FatherJP 3 years ago

Bro am sorry your point is way off the mark. Why then do you need coaches if ‘professional players’ know ‘everything’?

      What happens to tactics?
      What happens to formations??

Truth is GR hasn’t fashioned out a way to properly utilize Onuachu.

And I read here how some armchai analysts speak about Onuachu adapting to GR styles. Every coach since CR7 became a goal machine has found a way of utilizing him to their advantage; their teams play to his strengths. First Ancelloti, then Zizou and now Juve.

      Barca adapted to Messi’s strengths.

Whatever Genk’s coach is doing to get him score and bench a more heralded (in this part of the world) Dessers ought to be deployed by GR.

Another thing about coaching. Man City with a half strength 11 beat Man Utd at Old Trafford last night. Its tactics, its better coaching from Guadiola. Give Guardiola same Man Utd team, he will defeat Ole with present Man City.

Every winger has the potentials to cross the ball into the box if their team has a ‘target’ man. Its tactics, its coaching.

French national team utilizes same wingers for games with Giroud and Martial playing.

Whenever Giroud starts; the crosses come in from Coman, from Mbappe, from Dembele, …and whoever gets the nod on the wings. Once Martial replaces him, the games are played on the ground. Ditto Chelsea. Check his clips for France and Chelsea and before that Montpellier and Arsenal.

My summary is that its to the advantage of a gaffer to prepare his teams to play to the strengths of his best shots at winning matches. With Osimhen; its Ghenghen pressing, all action. Once Onuachu enters the fray, start getting to the bylines for crosses either on the ground for tap ins or the air for headers.

      We saw with Agali
      We saw with Carroll
      We see with Cris Wood

      • NA ME TALK AM 3 years ago

@FatherJp .. Are you comparing Onuachu to messi and Ronaldo ?

Last time I check the same Zizou didn’t play to Jović , ISCO , Hazard and other stars strength in Madrid

If a coach chooses to play to every players strength from Attack to Goalkeeping, then the team would keep building and rebuilding itself .

Even Zlatan ( Barcelona ),Kramarić ( Leicester City ) , Lukaku ( Manchester ) and many other established stars are not treated like Messi or Ronaldo for any coach to play to their strength .

Football is no magic for you to claim PEP would defeat Ole with the present Man Utd team because the same PEP lost to LYON last season and lesser team this season.

both Pep and Klop have lost to a lesser team this season , so you don’t assume and conclude a coach would win with a certain squad / team

Both Barcelona and Madrid lost to Cadiz and played draw with ELCHE

Any good professional footballer adapt to the team pattern example is Zlatan after his exit with Barcelona , He choose to adapt perfectly to any and every style of different coach .

If a player cannot adapt to a team pattern , then He or She is actually not a good professional player

If we must blame the coach , then we must blame the whole team and that include onuachu that fails to adapt to the team pattern

Yes the Coach certainly has his own fault , but alot of people seems to act like the players are PICTURE PERFECT .

        God bless Nigeria

        • FatherJP 3 years ago

You still don’t seem to get my drift or you just wanna continue to hold your standpoint which is OK by me cos everyone is entitled to their opinion. It’s a universal fact that Pep is a much better coach than Ole, just as its a universal fact that Onuachu is a proven goalscorer in his own right and aside Osimhen is Nigeria’s most consistent goalscorer, so yes I can compare him to Messi and Rinaldo in the CONTEXT (emphasis mine) of my submission.

As far as superstars go in present day Super Eagles striking position; Onuachu is next thing to Osimhen (statistics wise).

Milan plays to Zlatan’s strengths, so did Man It’s when he was there.

No coach and I repeat, none wastes his surest way to glory. Every coach tries to play to the strength of their surest and easiest ways to goal.

Onuachu proved it in Denmark and is now doing it in Belgium. Within the period under review, only Osimhen has fared better and he only edges Onuachu because he scored 18 goals in all competitions in a top 5 league.

SE playing style under Rohr does dovetail with onuachu’s style of playing thats whr the problem lies.S.E tend to play 4;3;3 with 3 strikers no wingers and Onuanu that i have watched cannot flourish in such a system.Untill Rohr is sacked , we might never get to see the best of Onuachu for Nigeria.SE need a coach that vary his style to suit different oppositions taking advantage of abundant talent in our disposal right now. Rohr is too rigid and his real time game reading is poor . To add to that SE may not qualify for next world cup under Rohr because of the absence of Mikel and Victor Moses and no capable replacement

I don’t think onuachu is strong enough for national team football…His type may not score up to 10 in a good league.Belgium league is really weak, onyekuru was top scorer there four years ago

    • FatherJP 3 years ago

Top scorer in the league or for his clubside?? And how many goals did he score??

Same weak league and how many goals did Osimhen score for Charleroi?

How many Nigerian players ever scored 18 goals in 18 matches in that weak Belgian league pls??

That guy sure knows his way to goal. He proved it with Midjitlland (sic), and is benching Dessers in same team. Remember.

Top scoring in Belgium is not moi moi. He’s not the only player in that ‘weak’ league remember.

      He deserves some respect.
May not fit into SE, but that doesn’t diminish his stature as a proven goalscorer.

      • @Father Jp

ever since your million star has been scoring whether na 50goals or 100goals in consecutive seasons, how many times has he been norminated for “common” african best…. Or is he only fighting for the national team coach to invite him?

We’re tired of these their goals in mediocre leagues…. We need players that would move to epl, laliga and play to the highest order and wipe this shame from our faces….

How can a country like nigeria doesn’t have a player in africa’s starting XI?…..

But we have players their fans claim they are world class and million stars….

Let them come and wipe away these shame from the faces of nigeri; ASAP…..

WE DON’T NEED THE HYPE AGAIN….

im soory to correct you belgium league is not a weak league they lay a vry good foundation for a promising talent remember that ndidi played for gent d same wth kalu and you can see the way they re evolving wen it comes to steppin up their games onuachu wen he was in denmark was prolific and he was one of the highest goal scorer in midjtland

  • Every Coach has their preferences. Onuachu may be scoring goals in Belgium but he has not performed for eagles. If we have other options in the striking position, the coach can decide to go for them. The wingers play the way they play and they have produced for us. Oshimen has produced for us too. Why should rohr change his style. If we lack these players then he can change to suit onuachu.

Westerhof kept on using some players in those days because they were producing for him. Players like Moses kpakpor, alloy agu, emeka ezeugo.

In 1982 the Italian coach had to rely on paulo rossi who was released from prison to prosecute the world cup despite other options.

Coaches have their preferences. Great coaches stick to their preferences. I still want to see what Paul can do in another too league.

      • FatherJP 3 years ago

Don’t mind him. How many Nigerian players scored 14+ goals consecutively in two different top 20 leagues in the world??

Every player will not fit into every coach’s playing style agreed, but modern football dictates abilities to prepare your team to play to different circumstances and styles especially given plethora of options. But like Sportsfan succinctly puts it; if those we have are producing the goods, there is no need inviting an Onuachu only to under utilize or bench him outrightly to the detriment of others who can help the team effectively.

  • JimmyBall 3 years ago

Gernot Rohr is not a coach to make us win anything. Coaches improve players… in the case of Rohr players underperform with no cogent explanation as to why… “the why is because he imparts nothing to our players” little Lesotho or Seychelles, he will invite every player from Europe to prosecute… there are games that you should allow your solid regulars enjoy their form in clubs and thrust other personnel who you have been looking to properly assess. You invite Osimhen for games against Lesotho, Tanzania, Chad, CAR instead of using the likes of Olayinka, Dennis, Onuachu and Dessers or Sadiq. Gernot Rohr has a glut of good players to choose from without necessarily calling up our first options always for weaker oppositions where they come and crop an injury and go back to their clubs. There is nothing one can do but honestly I am not a fan of our 68years old coach. He is densely oldschool and robotic. We can’t even win WAFU with a coach his like with timid and conservatively boring approach to games. You use to win Algeria like your wife… they work your maths get the answer and begin to bang you in the anus to your own sickening timidity and still you have no answers of your own. We can never do more than bronze with Rohr sadly.

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

You have said it all in one sentence, you are not a fan of G.Rohr. Obviously he has denied you and many others the chance to turn the SE to Jankara market, so you can never become his fan. Go and arrest Algeria coach for always inviting Mahrez, Bennacer, Feghouli and the likes for games vs Botswana, Zimbabwe, Benin and so on, OR Cisse for always inviting the whole legion of Worldclass senegalese players like Mane, Mendy, Koulibaly, Niang, Wague etc for games vs Eswatini/Swaziland, Congo, Guinea Bissau etc. Dont forget to also Jail Bonfrere Jo for always inviting the likes of Kanu, Jajay, Oliseh, Finidi, West, Shorunmu those days too when we play the likes of sudan, Namibia, madagascar etc. And please dont leave out Coaches of couuntries like Portugal and Spain who will still line up their worldbest players when playing San Marino, Gibralta, Georgia and Macedonia.

They have run out of things to criticize Rohr for, it is now the fact that he calls our best players to the national team all the time….LMAO

Leave our old school coach like that….we are better off not doing more than bronze than not even qualifying for AFCON at all at all even as 2nd place in our group or as one of 4 best loosers. At timid as and dumb as he is, he has never been demoted from main team coach to academy coach all his career.

The same people who will complain we dont have a regular starting 11 in 4 years are the same ones who will come and say Rohr has not called up all the 450 Nigerian professionals in Europe to the SE. The same people who will say Rohr doesnt have a definite playing parttern will again turn around to say he is tactically rigid….LMAO…always contradicting themselves……LMAO.

Wait till he fails to meet any target set for him by his employers to replace him with “one of your own” who will bring back the days of Yaba market SE. At least we are seeing what “one of your own” are doing with our U17 and U20 teams at the moment.

The Senior national team has now become an academy to groom players…I didnt know it has now become the job of Senior national team coaches to improve players…..LMAO. The SE or ANY senior national team anywhere in the world is not for footballers who need tutelage, the Senior national team is the place for the best among the best of any nation who are already at their best….any player who needs grooming should stay away from our SE.

No wonder Nigeria is like this. After they want to compare themselves with countries like ALGERIA & SENEGAL whose citizens (well behave youth) have right thinking faculty….
Citizens whose NO.6 is not brain-washed by agent/leaders…..

Can senegal and algeria they always make reference to ask their national team coach to use the national team and groom players?

We do things the opposite way of what other countries are doing after we expect a good result….

I don’t know who cause the youth of this local biome called Nigeria….

Hahaha… Some will come for me now. I think Paul Onuachu is the most hated player by Rohr’s boys and hatchet men now because dude keeps banging in the goals giving them migraine. Lol… One love! • Mercy 3 years ago

Pep once told Joe Hart(who was English first choice GK at that time) that he doesn’t want him in his team because he want a ball playing GK. Zlatan was dropped to the bench because his style do not suit a free flowing football of barca. Lukaku style of game never suit man u despite fantastic season with Everton and now with inter. A certain Thiery Henry did not see his period with juve but became a thin god in arsenal. Zola style do not suit a ancelotti style in Parma but Zola became a legend in Chelsea, Efan ekoku was the highest goal scorer in Wimbledon but never click for eagles, inzalgi was nothing but a flop in juve but was arguably one of the best striker for both country and club (milan). All of these players played under one of the best coaches in the world yet the cannot seems to deliver. It doesn’t make the players a bad player neither the coach a bad coach. Such is the reality of football. If onuachi style of play do not suit ours so be it. We have other strikers we can pick from but saying we should change our style to suit him, that I disagree.

There was more to these stories beyond your misleading and narrow minded attempts at analogical reasoning: 1.Joe Hart, 2. Ibrahimovic 3. Particularly the Lukaku story.
Get your facts right before coming to cyberspace to make a fool of yourself.
There is no parallel between these stories and the predicament of Onuachu in the Super Eagles.

Oga score as much as you like in Belgium! Never come near Super Eagles again. You are not needed until you learn to be an all round striker like Oshimen. We have another Lanky striker in Sadiq Umar. Go and watch how that guy plays right from Olympics. He doesn’t wait for one stupid cross from anywhere to deliver. He plays with the team. Run Defenders rag and scores not this one that we will need to go and bring back Findi and Amuneke from retirement before he can score. Abeggiii

Hahahahaha…game over….game over..! Cant be better said.
The day Onuachu will succesfully control an aerial ball with his chest, bring it down to his feet (without losing it) and give an accurate layoff to a nearby teammate without overstressing the pass, that will be the day I will know he is ready for the SE. Onuachu went into Afcon as our starting striker and 9 matches later he is yet to get a shot on goal (even against Burundi) for the Super Eagles. They are waiting for us to go and meet Innoson to manufacture another Ammunike and Finidi so that Onuachu can do basic things like hold-up play, diagonal runs, one-two moves etc in the colours of the national team. Anytime he starts, our attack is useless till he is removed….anytime he comes in, our attack becomes useless. From 1st minute to 90 minutes all we will be doing is floating crosses all over the pitch abi….Police football….LMAO. And they think our opponents, especially those rugged luciferous looking defenders we have on the African continent will just sit back and watch our wingers take all their time in the world to deliver bluetooth crosses to Onuachu to nod home unmarked without clipping our wings or bruising him out of their penalty area….?! And when our opponents scout and study onuachu and cut the crosses from being delivered what will we do…..be running around the pitch like headless chickens till the referee bails us out by blowing his final whistle…..LMAO
Make una dey decieve unasef dey go….! Nor be only wingers to cross balls, even our GKs sef go follow they do the crossing. LMAO.
Even the gangling Yekini was not waiting for crosses to his head before getting goals for the SE. If Onuachu is not ready for the SE, the likes of Taiwo and Umar are there hungry for their chance. If he like make e go dey score in goals inside moon.

Unuachu is striker but not a good player, Rohr should stop inviting him simple, Belgium league cannot be compared to national football teams, we are not lacking goal scorers, we scored ten goals in three qualification matches which is about 3.5 goals per match, why are we talking about unuochu? Some are even talking about crosses as if he didn’t get any with the eagles, unuachu got crosses and couldn’t do anything much; rohr is definitely not the best of coaches but that’s not becos of unuochu adaptation, scoring penalties and tap ins is not what we need we need a balling strikers like osihmen sadiq and dessers these are strikers that roves around all angles and can make other players score goals, he couldn’t bench ighalo when he got the chance, osihmen who was third choice striker in afcon is now is master, iheanacho that was discarded for him came back and start to bench him again, what else do we need to know? Rohr problem is in midfield and defence in terms of attack I think he is verry good at that. infact he is the best I admire him for that. His team produced highest goal scorer in both afcon qualifier and afcon and osihmen is currently the highest goal scorer in the present afcon qualifier. What else do we need to know? If Rohr gets is midfield right and stop toiling with his defending like akpoguma for right back, and improve in his substitution tactic he should be able to win afcon. As for unuachu he nor sabi play if he like score 100 goals in 10 matches Rohr should ignore him no be today, he reminds me of kezman a Serbian striker who was the highest goal scorer in the owl Europe while playing for psv he came to Chelsea and scored only 4 goals in 25 matches and was expectedly discharged by the club. Kanu was a regular striker in over 5 afcon tournament without scoring one goal but still remains one of our favourite strikers of all time, that’s to say there is alot more to offer in football than just scoring tap in goals. I don’t hate unuochu and I am happy for him I just like to hit the nail on the head.

Atleast i watched CR7 right from MAN UTD. He was so skillful & tricky, when he move to MADRID in 2009; Mourinho told him to forget about that pattern of game he use to paly in EPL under FERGUSON & start scoring goals bcos that is what would count.

Since then CR7 change his game pattern & focus on scoring goals even till date.

RONALDINHO messmerises a lot which PEP QUADIOLA don’t like, he must let go of him & bring little MESSI into the fold. A player that knows how to interpreat his TIKKI-TAKKA game pattern wella.

He doesn’t like player hanging on ball too much hence his issues with YAYA TOURE, SANE, KEITA etc.

Every coach has his preferred pattern of game which all players must adapt.
Rohr has his, ONUACHU MUST ADAPT TO IT. ASAP

Antonio Conte left chelsea with his 3-4-3 pattern/formation of agme, SARRI came in with his preferred pattern of 4-3-3 which affected V.Moses.
Sarri did not go back to CONTE’s pattern bcos of Moses who can’t adapt to it, MOSES have to go.

Go & tell PEP to sign HAZARD that like hanging on ball so he can change his game plan to suit HAZARD.

U MENTIONED MARTIAL IN YOUR COMMENT,,,, WHEN DID MARTIAL STARTED PLAYING FOR FRANCE?

WHERE WAS MARTIAL IN 2018 W.C?

SEE THE WAY U ANALYSE IT AS IF MARTIAL IS A MAINSTAY IN FRANCE NATIONAL TEAM….

NO WONDER THIS COUNTRY IS LIKE THIS…. THINGS ARE DONE OPPOSITE TO WHAT OTHER COUNTRIES ARE DOING….

CAN U TELL THE LIKES OF PEP, KLOPP, MOURINHO, ZIDANE, SOUTHGATE, CISE, BALMEDI, MATINEZ, SEEDOF, RIJKARD, HERVE RENARDS TO CHANGE THEIR GAME PLAN TO SUIT A PARTICULAR PLAYER????

CAN THIS BE HATRED OR IS IT THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH OUR THINKING FACULTY???

You guys should leave SE and Rohr alone they don’t need your advice and tactics. There is enough work and tactics needed at the U17, U20, U23 and the cassava league called NPFL, you guys should go there and apply your tactics and technicality if things will even get to at least a little of what Rohr is doing. You guys can invite Onauchu P. to help in that area too.
