Manchester City keeper Ederson is likely to remain in goal for this weekend’s FA Cup fifth-round trip to League Two side Newport County.
The City number one is regularly rested by Pep Guardiola in the domestic cup competitions, with youngster Ari Muric more than trusted to fill the void.
However, the Kosovo international, who has played a key role in the Citizens reaching the Carabao Cup final later this month against Chelsea at Wembley, is likely to be on the bench for the tea-time televised clash against the Welsh minnows.

It was thought that Brazil shot-stopper Ederson might be rested, with City having one eye on next Wednesday’s Champions League last-16, first-leg clash at Schalke.
City are chasing an historic quadruple of trophies this season and club insiders have insisted Guardiola won’t be taking any chances against Michael Flynn’s Newport side, who memorably accounted for Championship high-flyers Middlesbrough in the previous round.
The Manchester giants know the cut-up pitch at Rodney Parade isn’t best suited to Ederson’s game of playing out from the back although the noise coming out of the City camp is that Guardiola will be picking most of his regulars.
