Eguavoen Congratulates Super Falcons On WAFCON 2022 Qualification

Super Eagles interim coach Austine Eguavoen has congratulated the Super Falcons following their qualification for this year’s WAFCON.

The Falcons edged Côte d’Ivoire 1-0 in Abidjan to seal qualification 3-0 on aggregate thanks to Esther Okoronkwo’s 87th minute goal.

The Ivorians had a golden opportunity to take the lead late in the first half, after they were awarded a penalty but Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie saves it.

And reacting to the Falcons’ qualification Eguavoen wrote on Twitter:”Congratulations to the Super Falcons on securing qualification to our 14th Africa Women Cup Of Nations. Go on and conquer. Soar Super Falcons.”

This year’s WAFCON will take place in Morocco in July and it will serve as qualification for next year women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The Falcons will be gunning for a record-extending 10th continental title.

Pls replicate the same by securing the World cup ticket for Nigeria in March.

I’m really bothered by indigenous coaches not getting jobs done.
Let’s go down memory lane though not quite long, same players same super falcons failed to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics under the management of domestic coaches. They were stopped by the Ivorians sadly.
This time around we have a foreigner and we qualified winning both home and away impressive!despite not playing champagne football.
We were getting results under Rohr Just like the American tactician is doing with the super falcons, though without playing beautiful. The Nigerian fans wanted both but you can’t play beautiful with less tactics and expect to come tops against every opposition you come up against, what happens is you come to a glitch at some point and that would be it.
Our domestic coaches lacks modern day knowledge of coaching. They play the Nigerian way, their teams tends to play with more grace and finesse just like the flamboyant playing super eagles at the last Afcon in Cameroon, the end they say justifies the means that was what Waldrum proved with the super falcons.Same team that stopped the Nigerian females to the last Olympics were thwarted by the same falcons but with different tactics from a different tactician.
It’s obvious we aren’t good enough our leaders should note this and accept this hard fact and get off their high horse!
Should we now carry on to be bullheaded in an obstinate and unthinking way and continue with our local contents when it’s obvious it’s not the way to go at least not for now.

Loud it brother, football is about result not entertainment.

You guys sound lame talking up what Waldrum is doing with the Falcons, while talking down the achievements of the local coaches.

I’ve watched everything single nations cup and world cup matches of our female national team since 1991; I saw every single team; every single coach during that period. Note, the times we bossed African and played marvelously (especially in the 1999 WC), we had local coaches. From Hamilton to Mabo to Okpodu Eucharia to Okosieme, our best period were with local coaches. We won 8 WAFCONs with local coaches. We struggled more with these foreigners.
I won’t talk down the foreigners because I know that the quality of our African opponents have improved, but I’ll never allow our local coaches because rubbished based on some crappy low self esteem some football fans are here displaying.

Even Keshi won’t use Afcon, Amodu at times qualified us for the WC too.

Its cool the Falcons qualified, but it is never because its an oyinbo that’s in charge. With our talent endowments, only a foolish coach won’t qualify.

        By the way,

I meant to listen the coaches we had this way, Bonfere to Hamilton to Mabo to Okpodu to Izilien to Effiom to Ladipo to Eucharia to Ikhana to Okon to Danjuma Omagbemi. Then came Dennerby and Waldrum

The records clearly show the Falcons and Falconets have done best under indegenous coaches. Ismalia Mabo is by far, by far the most successful Falcons coach. At continental and global levels – Olympics and WC.

And his teams played far more attractive soccer.

We even got to two Junior WCs Final with the local coaches, playing aggressive and co-ordinated football with discernable patterns. The FIFA President asked Nigeria to add junior players to the senior team to improve the latter. But the usual seniority problem showed itself. Prestige and money ensured correct selections were not made. We have declined since then.

      Thank you Olujimi.
Only those who don’t know the history of the Falcons that’ll talk down the achievements of our local coaches jare.
