‘Eguavoen Never Supported NFF’s Decision To Sack Rohr’ –Ikpeba

Former Nigerian forward, Victor Ikpeba has blamed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the Super Eagles failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup slated for Qatar.

Speaking on Monday Night Football, the former international revealed that Eguavoen did not support NFF’s decision to terminate Gernot Rohr’s contract just few weeks to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Recall that Rohr qualified the senior national team to the biennual tournament and also the 2022 World Cup qualifying playoffs.

However, the team crashed out of AFCON in the Round of 16 after losing 1-0 to Tunisia before failing to qualify for the World Cup after been eliminated by the Black Stars of Ghana on the away goal rule.

Reacting to this, the former Monaco star said that the NFF and not Eguavoen should bear the responsibility for the Eagles’ absence in Qatar.

“Eguavoen was not in support of the decision to sack Rohr,” the 1997 CAF Player of the Year said.

“The NFF should take responsibility of Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup and not Eguavoen.”

The last time the Eagles failed to qualify for the World Cup was the 2006 edition in Germany.

Insiders talking now. It is only a matter of time for truth to get hold of the lie. God will bless Ikpeba. Meanwhile, Augustine Eguavoen has better credentials to continue. That is not saying some of us are not still bitter but we must not allowed such bitterness to override our sense of judgement.

    • Bitter kola no dey there? And must every country qualify for the World cup?

    • What are the credentials exactly? Because you mentioned “Sense of Judgement” and I just want to explore that with you.

  • Ebhohimen 2 years ago

Eguavoen has every chance to continue as the coach of the Super Eagles based on statistics. He should go and do his homework at the NFF level.

    YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS.
YOU ARE A LIAR AND TOO GREEDY. WHEN YOU KNOW THAT. WHY CAN’T YOU SHOW YOUR GRIEVANCE TOWARDS IT BY NOT ACCEPTING THE OFFER & THEN CONCENTRATE WITH YOUR TECHNICAL DIRECTOR POSITION AND ALLOWED OTHER COACHES (e.g. Amuneke) FOR THE OFFER. BUT DUE TO YOUR GREEDINESS & TO GET GOOD NAME GOD HAVE NOT DESTINED TO YOU, YOU QUICKLY JUMP TO ACCEPT THE OFFERED. YOUR EYES HAS ON EAGLE’ JOB, THAT IS WHY YOU LED HOMEBASE EAGLE TO DISASTROUS 4-0 DEFEAT TO MEXICO IN INT. FRIENDLY. NFF FIRSTLY ASKED GERNOT ROHR TO LEAD THE HOMEBASE TO INT. FRIENDLY WITH MEXICO, BUT HE REFUSED & SAID TO NFF THAT HE DIDN’T SIGNED ANY AGREEMENT WITH NFF TO LEAD ANY HOMEBASE TEAM IN HIS CONTRACT. YOU EQUAVOEN, WHY CAN’T YOU DO THE SAME THING BY TELLING NFF THAT YOU ONLY SIGNED AGREEMENT TO BE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR ALONE. BUT INSTEAD, YOU ARE JACK OF ALL TRADES. WHEREVER NFF PUSHES YOU TO GO, THEN YOU GO.
It is not good for a man to be too greedy . This is the consequence.

  • Continuity is necessary and I don’t think Eguavoen is a bad coach. His players, particularly the goal keepers let him down and if they can work on this and beef up the midfield, he can go a long way with the team.

An entirely new coach would have to start from scratch trying to know the SE players and would not know where attention is more needed to make a good team.

Hahahahaha…I guess Rohr’s players NEVER let him down for once right….LMAOOoo.

I guess it was Eguavoen’s players that refused to change tactics when the Ghanaian technical crew switched to 5 at the back and shackled Eguavoen’s wingers.

      Shameless bunch of people

    • You are talking arrant nonsense@Tony!!! If they can???

So you guys don’t have any shame or remorse??? Eguavoen just brought national disgrace and shame on Nigerian fans and to the nation twice thereby making is loose out of the forth coming world cup and He is out almost immediately looking for another job…

      Wicked and unrepentant generation!!!

Eguavoen you are a shameless man aka Mr Nosense/Nonsense!

Uzoho has already accepted his error. Those who want Eguavoen to still play a role are many and are very serious about it. And another thing, the facts are in support. Do you have another person better than Eguavoen? If not, remain quiet.

      • KENNETH 2 years ago

Oga channel your anger to the players that let millions of Nigerians down, leave Augustine alone. Abi was he meant to be pausing the game to give out instruction. Abi was it his fault Simon couldn’t score in Accra, abi was it his fault Uzoho allowed in cheap goal. So leave the coach alone, the body language of your players said it all. There was no hunger in some of them

The only way forward is for Eguavoen to continue with his boys. Nff doesn’t have to waste more time since Afcon23 is already around the corner and we cannot afford not to win it. A stitch in time saves 9.

Even my president Buhari believes in local content policy we practice for Abuja, every ministry includy sports must do continuity fa. If Amaju and the Federation now hated Egu let them tell us which local coach is better then we will also tell them Egu na him be our own man kawe. Many players for kano pillars fa.

IKPEBA go ask him if there is nothing like SOLIDARITY for a COMRADE in his DICTIONARY…

  • Is it because we want Eguavoen to continue as the Super Eagles coach that the comment section is getting dried?

They don’t have a better preference as compared to Eguavoen towering credentials. Just be expecting insults and abusive words.

I can see that all of you guys in support of Egufailure are sick in the head, make you all go and take your anti psychotic medicine before coming back here to comment with a sane head

Eguavoen, Pinnick, Dare, Odegbami and Peterside Idah plotted and disposed of Rohr, and put Nigerian football 50 years back. They should not provoke Nigerians any further with TV debates

what of Omo9ja? You forgot his “Rohr must go campagna” for almost half a decade.

Yeah, we know u may not have supported the whole idea of sacking rohr but you accepted the job with your hands wide open like a beggar. U even went on to give us the impression that anybody can coach the super eagles with the caliber of players we have. So, who is fooling who here? If u were a man of integrity u wouldn’t have accepted the job at least to show the world u never supported the idea. That’s how men of integrity do but in your feeble wicked mind u thought u saw an already cooked food and felt u could chop another man’s labour but karma had its bitchy way as predicted by me and some good thinking folks here and so shall it (karma) continue until the right things are done which include a public apology to rohr, his reinstatement and settlement of all his outstandings and the dissolution of the entire nff board. Until this is done, we shall continue to have it this way. God is a God of justice.

Sack FA chairman. The man na thief. Put rich ex internationals as FA chairman. Emplore world class coach and give him free hand to select his players. Nff board is full of thief’s and politicians. Black man can not learn from white man, no wonder they call Africa’s Negro and Animals.

My heart is bleeding! how did we get here?may those that have hands in the abrupt termination of GERNOT ROHR’s contract never know peace till they die because i have never been so sad nd angry in live since March the 29th, not because we lost the march after all in live you lose some nd win some but because we put ourselves in a position of ridicule for sacking the coach who CREATED the opportunities to play at the last AFCON nd world cup Play off nd shortly before the competitions, we replaced him men who destroyed the man’s projects of not only doing better than his semi final feat but to also finish the Play off on a high … in fact on march 29 it was obvious Nigeria was deliberately plunged into utter darkness by few unscrupulous nd selfish individuals who care less whether or not the entire football loving Nigerians are happy as long as they could feed fat on the national team brand nd to those of you on this forum asking for fanciful nd rubust football hope you have got what you wanted….. just like the super eagles under GERNOT ROHR, the black star came to Abuja, played direct nd purposive football nd got exactly what they wanted….. where did all your WING PLAY nd inconsequential LEG OVERS get you…. fools of the highest order

    • Edoman 2 years ago

agree with you. Those who plot to remove Oga Rohr through words and other means will die in their sleep. God will punish them all. they even agreed to fail with their own so long it is not Oga Rohr.

  • Chibuike 2 years ago

You are not in support of him sack but you follow all those ex internationals critics Rohr tactics? And why you accepted the job since you know it will backfire? Mad people everywhere

  • They are now blaming each other. Nemesis has caught up with them. The poor man they ganged up against has been vindicated. Truly there is no rest for the wicked.#rohr#karmaisabitch.

The very reason why all of the NFFF executives should resign. Sunday Oliseh once said this last last year and See what is happening . It doesn’t surprise me that someone will definitely point fingers at who caused the failure of the team not to qualify.

There’s need for revamping the administrative office of the NFF honestly . And also the issue of hiring a good coach for the national team needs serious actions . We actually don’t need to be getting foreign coaches when the ones who have played abroad and have gone for international competitions can be called provided they are sound enough to take the national team to great heights esp the world cup.

Much is to be done .
