Egypt Arrive Asaba For Super Eagles Friendly

The Pharaohs of Egypt have arrived Asaba for Tuesday’s prestige friendly against the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Completesports.com reports.

The Pharaohs finished their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers campaign with a 1-1 away draw against Niger, to drop their only fifth point in the group.

Mahmoud Trezeguet gave Egypt the lead in the 47th minute, two minutes after he was brought on, however, an 81st-minute equaliser by Amadou Moutari ensured the spoils were shared.

Head coach of the side Javier Aguirre dropped the country’s biggest star Mohamed Salah from the game who will also be missing in action against the Super Eagles on Tuesday.

The Super Eagles ended their 2019 AFCON qualifying campaign on a positive note following a 3-1 win against Seychelles at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on Friday.

Both countries will use the game to prepare for the 2019 AFCON finals will be hosted by Egypt this summer.

The last time Egypt faced Nigeria away from home was in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

The Pharaohs managed to secure a last-gasp draw following a Mohamed Salah strike to go on and beat Nigeria 1-0 in Alexandria and qualify to the AFCON for the first time since 2010.
