Egypt Coach El-Badry: Playing Against Super Eagles Won’t Be Easy

Egypt head coach Hossam El-Badry admitted that playing against the Super Eagles and the two other teams in Group D won’t be an easy task, reports Completesports.com.

The draw for the biennial competition , which took place on Tuesday, put Egypt in Group D alongside Nigeria, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau.

The Super Eagles and the Pharaohs are considered favourites to qualify from the group but El-Badry has warned his players not to take their two other group rivals for granted.

“Our group was quite balanced and not easy due to the improvement of all these teams, who also have great players,” El-Badry was quoted by Kingfut.com.

“I have great confidence in God and in the capabilities the players to overcome this group and perform well to satisfy the aspirations of the Egyptian fans.

“The coaching staff and I are thinking about each stage separately. Currently we are only focusing on the team’s journey in the World Cup qualifiers to achieve our target to qualify for the finals. As we already reached our first target, which was to qualify for the African Cup of Nations.

“All the partis involved in the national team, starting with the president of the federation, Ahmed Megahed and members of its normalization committee, passing through the players and members of the technical, administrative and medical staff, bear a great responsibility in satisfying the fans and fulfilling their aspirations to be present in the World Cup.

“This would be a great honor for everyone who contributes to this great achievement. I ask everyone to continue to support the national team in this difficult and exceptional period that Egyptian football is going through,” he concluded.

Egypt will open their campaign against Nigeria at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium, Garoua on January 11.

The competition will take place between January 9 2022 and February 6 2022 across five cities in Cameroon.

You too have become GERNOT ROHR d second.
    I can’t laugh oo

Of course if it were Gernot Rohr that made same statement, omo9ja would have written a long lamentable epistle to remind us of how Madagascar defeated Nigeria in the last Afcon and how we shouldn’t even bother to go into the tournament, some people should just learn how to be calming down biko!

  • U see now! This is what naija fans don’t want to hear.If it was Rohr that made that statement, hell would have let loose. Truly truth is bitter

I don’t know why you guys keep endeavoring to protect Rohr from criticism. If he is doing fantastically, no one will be complaining. At first, people didn’t complain much because they gave him benefit of the doubt to go through the team building process. But Now, we expect a great team after these years. Not to take away anything from his modest achievements (which by the way ain’t spectacular in comparison with what others have also achieved), we want a team that is strong enough and holds it’s own against big teams. Our recent results against Algeria, Tunisia, Cameroon and Senegal leaves nothing in the mouth to savour. He either get’s some help or prepare to leave because this afcoN will decide so much about his future. For me, his ambition and capacity doesn’t suit a team like SE.

  • @YERIMANphc thank you, very much let me add to what you’re saying, for me i appreciate what coach Rohr has done with super eagles so far no doubt about that though his achievement so for the late coach Steve keshi has also achieved that even won nations cup with low salary, my take is that we have seen coach Rohr tactical ability, super eagles are looking for that coach who can explore this young and talented players right now to be a formidable teams i cannot stop talking about three lions coach Gareth Southgate who is tactical awareness.

@yeriman, I’m one of the people that disliked your comment, and that’s because I totally (emphasis on totally) disagree. Here’s why:
“guys keep endeavoring to protect Rohr from criticism. If he is doing fantastically, no one will be complaining” – this is false! Nobody is protecting Rohr, we are defending a man that has not failed in meeting any target given to him. That’s rare, even in Nigeria. Criticism will be given to anyone, as long it is an endeavor that’s worthwhile. Heck, even Jesus was criticise for being Jesus! Guardiola was still criticised when he won treble with Barcelona. Many things can instigate criticism, such as “he loses inconsequential matches”, “he doesn’t play my favorite players such as olayinka and ajayi”, “his style of play is not all attacking even though it has always produces results”, and many dumb reasons I can’t least out now
“his ambition and capacity doesn’t suit a team like SE” – Lol, tell that to the sports minister! Where were you all during the time the minister said 2 bronzes is very acceptable for a country like Nigeria. Please don’t make me laugh! In all sincerity, super eagles has no prestige whatsoever until Rohr came. We couldn’t qualify for afcon. Worse of all, back to back!
