Ejuke, Yusuf Help Royal Antwerp Reach Belgian Cup Final

Alhassan Yusuf and Chidera Ejuke were in action as Royal Antwerp defeated Oostende to reach the final of the Belgian Cup.

In Thursday’s semi-final second leg tie, Royal Antwerp won 3-0 to go through on a 4-1 aggregate win.

While Ejuke played for 90 minutes, Yusuf was replaced in the 90th minute.

Nigerian 17-year-old forward George Ilenikhena bagged a brace in the game.

Also, another young Nigerian forward, Victor Udoh, was in action as he came on in the 76th minute.

Udoh, 19, provided the assist for Antwerp’s third goal scored by Ilenikhena.

Royal Antwerp will take on Union SG in the final billed for 9 May, 2024.

Meanwhile, Royal Antwerp will be hoping to defend the Belgian Cup in the final against Union SG.

Antwerp have won the Cup four times in their history (1955, 1992, 2020, 2023).

Chidera Ejuke should be invited to the SE team and drilled as our creative, attacking midfielder as he has the skill set to do well in that area with his dribbling and creative abilities. He is less effective in the wings were he has been suboptimal the few times he played for Super Eagles.

I guess you didn’t watch the match last night cos if you did, you won’t be clamouring for him. I try to watch games Royal Antwerp week in week out because of the 4 Nigerians in the team Yusuf, 17 years old Ilenikhena, 19 Victor Udoh and Ejuke. Those 3 players first mentioned are the future of Super Eagles but it’s obvious Ejuke has past his prime, he has lost so many weapons in his arsenal, pace, tricky moves, killer pass and strength. All he need to do is to focus on how to make money for his retirement.
