EPL: Newcastle United Hold Man City At St James’ Park

Manchester City lost more ground in the title race after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Newcastle United at the St. James’ Park Stadium on Saturday.

The visitors opened scoring in the 22nd minute through Raheem Sterling’s well-taken strike, the England international’s 15th goal of the season.

Newcastle United equalised three minutes later courtesy of Jetro Willems’ low drive.

Kevin De Bruyne’s sumptuous volley, after he had chested the ball down, then appeared to win it for City with just eight minutes to go, but former Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey produced an equally-stunning strike to level matters late on.

Pep Guardiola’s side closed the gap on leaders Liverpool to eight points, albeit having played a game more than their rivals, who host Brighton later in the day.
