  • My team of the week ending 17/03/2019

Last one before the international break starting once the matches today end.

    GoalKeeper:

Only one on show and local. Lobi Stars Olufemi Kayode gets the nod based on stats and by virtue of higher competition plus clean sheet over the other local keepers.
Coincidentally Francis Uzoho has not made an appearance between the sticks or even on the bench since his medical cert fiasco

    Defence:
Jamilu Collins at left back, providing an assist in their 3:1 win league game, Shehu Abdullahi at Right back owing to Ola Aina being sent off in the dying minutes of Torino’s league game. Central pairing of Awaziem and Omeruo (who also gets a one match suspension in the Spanish league owing to him picking up his 5th yellow card of the season). Balogun did not feature and Troost got battered by Napoli.

    Midfield:

The Semi Ajayi show continues, three goals this week and the only question was “who partners him”? Ndidi gets the priviledge. I also moved Onyekuru into central midfield (2 goals one assist) to make way for Nwakaeme of Trabzonspor on the left wing. Right wing sees Orji Okonkwo open his account for Montreal Impact (on loan from Bologna) and a fantastic rating of 8.3.

Striker sees Sikiru Alimi take center stage with two goals for Lobi Stars as they beat ASEC in their final game in the CAF Champions league.

    Other news:
    Goals also for:
    Victor Osimhen
    Bright Osayi-Samuels
    Peter Olayinka (plus an assist)
    David Okereke
    Simy Nwankwo
    Stephen Odey
    Plus assist for Victor Moses

All in all a great week for our players, disappointment for Aina and Omeruo who will serve suspensions when they return from international duty, Etebo returning from injury to play with Stoke city and a return to the bench for Ibrahim Muazzam Alhassan of CD Nacional.
Awoniyi got yhe better of Bonaventure in the Belgian premier league match between Brugge and Mouscron (although neither scored).

We look forward to the under 23 match on Wednesday between Nigeria and Tunisia and the AFCON match on Saturday between Nigeria and the Seychelles, plus the next week reyurn match for the under 23 as well as the friendly between Nigeria and Egypt (friendly???)
