Bendel Insurance media officer Kehinde Osagiede has declared that the historic Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium remains an impenetrable fortress for visiting teams, following the Benin Arsenal’s resounding 4-1 victory over Barau FC in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Sunday’s statement performance saw Insurance snap Barau FC’s impressive unbeaten run in style, courtesy of a brace from Kayode Oke alongside goals from Suraju Lawal and Jonathan James.

Reflecting on the comprehensive win in a chat with Completesports.com, Osagiede emphasized that the team clicked on all cylinders to humble the visitors, reinforcing the stadium’s legendary status in Nigerian club football.
“I think we had our best game yesterday because it’s the same quality players they have been parading and everything worked well for us,” Osagiede noted.
“Barau FC came to Benin well-prepared to at least shock us, but fortunately for us, our players rose up to the occasion and ended that unbeaten run.”

Emphasizing the psychological weight of playing in Benin City, he added, “I can tell you that everything about Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium is special. Ogbemudia himself, the name is iconic and synonymous with progress and development. So like you rightly said, Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium has become a fortress, and it will be difficult for teams to survive at the venue. It’s a traditional ground, the home of soccer.”
With the emphatic home win lifting confidence across the squad, Bendel Insurance will look to leverage their home advantage as they continue their domestic campaign.
